2022 French Open: Carlos Alcaraz Garfia Betting Odds, Preview & Prediction
History was made on the Men's side at the Australian Open earlier this season, as Rafael Nadal defeated Daniil Medvedev for his 21st Grand Slam title. That broke a three-way tie that he was previously a part of with Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic, who each have won 20 career Grand Slams.
The second major of the tennis season is the French Open at Roland Garros, which will run from May 22nd to June 5th. The clay surface is difficult for even the best of players to adapt to, as evidenced by the fact that just three of Federer's and Djokovic's combined 40 Grand Slam titles have been won at Roland Garros. Even Pete Sampras, who ranks fourth on the all-time list of Grand Slam champions, never won a French Open title.
This is the first annual BettingPros Guide to the French Open, where we will highlight several of the top contenders from both the Men's and Women's Draws.
Is Rafael Nadal a shoo-in for his 14th French Open title, which would be five more than any other player won at any Grand Slam event? Will we have our ninth different women's champion in the last nine years? Or can Barbora Krejcikova become the first repeat champion since Justine Henin's three-peat from 2005-07?
Read on for our thoughts and predictions for Carlos Alcaraz Garfia in the 2022 French Open.

Carlos Alcaraz Garfia French Open History
Carlos Alcaraz Garfia turned professional in 2018 and, as such, is competing in just his second career French Open. Last year, the unseeded Spaniard dropped just one set between his first two matches, with one victory coming against No. 28 seed Nikoloz Basilashvili. After that, however, he was defeated in straight sets in the Third round by German Jan-Lennard Struff.
Carlos Alcaraz Garfia Recent Form
Alcaraz only has shorter odds than the 13-time French Open champion and countrymate Rafael Nadal, primarily due to Alcaraz's torrid start to 2022. Alcaraz is the only ATP player with four titles this year, which is even more impressive considering he played through the Madrid tournament with a sore ankle. In Madrid, Alcaraz celebrated his 19th birthday by defeating the likes of Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and Alexander Zverev, who all are currently ranked in the top five in the world.
Alcaraz decided to skip the Rome Masters to ensure his sore ankle was healed adequately for his first match at Roland Garros. But based on his recent dominance over the sport's best, one does not figure to have to be too concerned with his injury.

The Pick: Carlos Alcaraz Garfia to Reach the Final (+120 at FanDuel)
Did Alcaraz's win in the quarterfinals in Madrid over Nadal signal a passing of the torch from one Spaniard to another? Will the 19-year-old begin his reign as the next dominant champion on clay?
Alcaraz is a bit of a wild card entering the French Open, as he has never before reached the second week of a Grand Slam. However, he is 16-1 on clay this year and is confident after beating Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal in Madrid. He got a great draw by avoiding Djokovic and Nadal until the finals, and we expect him to meet one of them there in the deepest Grand Slam run of his young career.
