2023 Belmont Stakes: Angel of Empire Odds, Picks & Predictions

In the high-stakes world of Thoroughbred racing, Angel of Empire is turning heads. As the Triple Crown series reaches its peak at the 2023 Belmont Stakes, bettors are taking notice. Angel of Empire’s reputation has been steadily growing over the past year, and this race could be the crowning jewel in its competitive journey after sitting out the Preakness Stakes to rest ahead of the 155th Run for the Carnations.

2023 Belmont Stakes Predictions: Angel of Empire

  • Post Position: 8
  • Odds: 7/2

Angel of Empire was my pick to win the Kentucky Derby, and he ultimately closed the race as the betting favorite after Forte was scratched. He ultimately finished third in that race, but I’ll once again be backing him in the Belmont. Angel of Empire is built for this long track and his closing ability will likely help him hit the board. Angel of Empire and Forte will be my primary choices on top.

Angel of Empire Profile

Angel of Empire’s past performance suggests that he has a strong chance of performing well at Belmont. Despite coming in behind Mage in the 2023 Kentucky Derby, Angel of Empire showcased strength, stamina, and a competitive spirit that cannot be overlooked.

Angel of Empire is a three-year-old colt that has been making waves on the horse racing scene. Trained by Brad Cox, a top trainer in the sport, this colt has shown tremendous potential and has already won several races. He is sired by Classic Empire, who won the 2017 Arkansas Derby, a race that Angel of Empire won going away back in April. He is out of a mare named Heavenly Cat, who was also a successful racehorse. This impressive breeding has given Angel of Empire the speed and stamina needed to excel on the track.

While the horse may not have come first in the Kentucky Derby, his performance was strong enough to keep it in the spotlight for the Belmont Stakes. Furthermore, his trainers opted to skip the 2023 Preakness Stakes in order to keep Angel of Empire fresh for the Run for the Carnations.

So, what can we expect from Angel of Empire at the Belmont Stakes? First and foremost, the horse’s speed and stamina will be key to its success. Belmont Park is home to one of the longest and most grueling racecourses in the world, spanning 1.5 miles in length, and is the longest dirt track in North America. This means that the horse will need to maintain a consistent pace throughout the race, with a strong finishing kick that will propel it across the finish line first.

Angel of Empire has also been working closely with his jockey, Flavien Prat, to refine his racing strategies and tactics. Prat is one of the more successful, jockeys in the industry, having won numerous prestigious races over the course of his career, including the Kentucky Derby (2019) and Preakness Stakes (2021). A win on Saturday would complete the career Triple Crown for the 30-year-old jackey.
