2023 Genesis Scottish Open: PGA First-Round Leader Odds, Picks & Predictions
Many of the top players in the world have descended up Scotland this week to play in the Scottish Open as a links course warm-up for next weekâs Open Championship, the last major on the 2023 calendar. This will be the fifth year in a row that The Renaissance Club in North Berwick will play host to the tournament.
The par 70, 7,237 yard course has all the trappings, no pun intended, of your traditional links setup with strong winds, pot bunkers and deep fescue around the fairways. The field will have to adjust their game accordingly, which is why itâs common for so many professionals to make their way over to Europe a week early. Letâs get to the picks.

Tyrrell Hatton (35-1)
The fiery Brit has made seven of the last eight cuts at the Scottish Open and finished no worse than T-22. Hatton fired a third-round 64 on the heels of an opening round 65 here in 2018 so heâs capable of going low here. The 31-year-old is coming off a T-27 at the U.S. Open, which followed a string of five straight finished of T-15 or better. If Hatton can keep his cool and the putts continue to drop, he could get off to a fast start and be leading at the end of the first round.
Tommy Fleetwood (35-1)
Fleetwood has finished in the top-25 in half of his 16 PGA Tour starts this season. Now he spends a couple weeks in his element, as the English native would love nothing more than to perform well in front of so many of his fans. After losing a playoff at the RBC Canadian Open, Fleetwood posted a T-5 at the U.S. Open. When the proverbial heat is turned up, Fleetwood turns up his game. Look for him at the top of the leaderboard Thursday night.
Aaron Rai (70-1)
One of the only players on tour who wears gloves on both hands, Rai has yet to win on the PGA Tour. However, a deeper look into his career, and we find that the 28-year-old already has six international wins under his belt. Rai did not make the cut here a year ago, but heâs in great form with a T-3 at the RBC Canadian Open and a T-9 at the Rocket Mortgage Classic sandwiched around a T-24 at the Travelers Championship. If he stays hot, Rai can be leading this tournament after the first round.
Good luck and letâs cash some tickets!
