2023 Kentucky Derby: Hit Show Odds, Picks & Predictions

The Kentucky Derby, also known as the Run for the Roses, is the most prestigious horse race in the United States. It is held annually on the first Saturday in May at the Churchill Downs race track in Louisville, Kentucky. The race is a 1.25 mile (2 km) long race for 3-year-old thoroughbred horses and is often referred to as the “most exciting two minutes in sports.” The 2023 Kentucky Derby is almost here, and one horse to keep an eye on is Hit Show.

Hit Show is a 3-year-old bay colt sired by Into Mischief and out of the mare Satirical. Into Mischief is known for producing top-level runners, including the champion mare Covfefe. Satirical, on the other hand, was a stakes winner and comes from a strong line of horses that have performed well on the track. Hit Show was bred and is owned by Bradley Thoroughbreds, who have had success with horses such as Divine Queen and Chanteline.

2023 Kentucky Derby Predictions: Hit Show

  • Post Position: 1
  • Odds: 30/1

Hit Show arrives to Churchill Downs with a win in the Withers Stakes and a runner up finish in the Wood Memorial, both races being held at Aqueduct. He’s got a quality trainer prepping him in Brad Cox as well. But while Hit Show gets the advantage of the inside rail, he likely doesn’t have the speed figures to truly compete among this field.

Hit Show Profile

Hit Show made his racing debut on October 10, 2021, at Keeneland Race Course in Lexington, Kentucky. He finished second in the six-furlong race, but it was clear that he had talent and potential. Next, he ran in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile on November 5, 2021, at Del Mar race track in California. Despite finishing seventh out of 14 horses, he was only four lengths behind the winner and showed that he could compete at the highest level.

In his three-year-old debut, Hit Show won the Listed Swale Stakes at Gulfstream Park in Florida on February 26, 2020. He ran the seven-furlong race in a time of 1:21.77, defeating a field of eight horses. The Swale Stakes was a prep race for the Grade 1 Florida Derby, which took place on March 26, 2022, at Gulfstream Park. Unfortunately, Hit Show finished fifth in the race, but it was a valuable learning experience for the young colt.

Hit Show is a promising young horse who has shown plenty of potential in his short career. He has the breeding, connections, and talent to be a top-level racehorse and a serious contender in the 2023 Kentucky Derby. Only time will tell if he is able to live up to his potential and become a champion, but for now, he is a horse to keep an eye on.
