2023 Kentucky Derby: Jace’s Road Odds, Picks & Predictions

As the 2023 Kentucky Derby approaches, all eyes are on the up-and-coming contenders who have proven their worth on the racetrack. One horse that has been garnering attention is Jace’s Road, trained by John W. Sadler and owned by Hronis Racing. Jace’s Road is a three-year-old colt with a pedigree that hints at his potential for greatness. His sire, Into Mischief, was a talented racehorse in his own right, winning multiple graded stakes races and siring numerous champions. His dam, Lady of Shamrock, was also a stakes winner and is a daughter of Scat Daddy, a sire whose progeny have achieved success in both dirt and turf racing.

2023 Kentucky Derby Predictions: Jace’s Road

  • Post Position: 12
  • Odds: 15/1

Jace’s Road brings two wins and two third-place finishes to Louisville. He finished third in the Louisiana Derby, but hasn’t won a race since December. Another Cox-trained horse, Jace’s Road could have that elusive combination of speed and endurance needed to hit the board on Saturday. He probably doesn’t have the goods to win outright, but he could beworth including in your trifectas and superfectas.

Jace’s Road Profile

So far, Jace’s Road has not disappointed. In his two-year-old campaign, he made his debut in August 2022 at Del Mar, finishing second in a maiden special weight race. He followed that up with a win in another maiden special weight race, this time at Santa Anita Park. Next, he stepped up in class to contest the Grade 1 American Pharoah Stakes at Santa Anita, where he finished fourth.

Despite the defeat, Jace’s Road proved he was more than capable of competing at the highest level. His final race of the year was in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile at Del Mar, where he ran a respectable fifth behind the impressive winner, Jack Christopher.

The Kentucky Derby is famously difficult to win, with a field of 20 highly talented horses all vying for the top prize. However, Jace’s Road has a few key factors in his favor. First, his pedigree suggests that he has the stamina and speed necessary to compete at the highest level. He has also shown natural ability and competitiveness in his races so far, indicating that he may thrive on the big stage.

Additionally, Jace’s Road benefits from having an experienced and successful trainer in John W. Sadler. Sadler has trained numerous graded stakes winners, including the popular California Chrome, who won the Kentucky Derby in 2014. With Sadler’s guidance and expertise, Jace’s Road will have the best possible chance at success.

It remains to be seen how Jace’s Road will perform on his journey to the Kentucky Derby, and whether he will ultimately emerge as the winner. However, all indications suggest that he has the potential to be a serious contender.
