Tapit Trice’s dam, Trice, is a daughter of Tiznow, a two-time Breeders’ Cup Classic winner and Horse of the Year in 2000 and 2001. Trice herself was a successful racehorse, winning three of her five starts and earning over $56,000 in prize money.

Tapit Trice made his racing debut in September 2022 at Del Mar, where he finished second behind a highly-regarded Bob Baffert-trained horse named Altaf. Tapit Trice then broke his maiden impressively in his second start, winning by eight lengths at Santa Anita Park in October 2022.

Tapit Trice’s biggest win to date came in the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Futurity in December 2022, where he beat a field of talented two-year-olds by 2 ¼ lengths. The Los Alamitos Futurity has been a key race for Kentucky Derby hopefuls in recent years, with horses like Authentic, McKinzie, and Improbable all winning the race before going on to compete in the Derby.

Tapit Trice’s impressive performances have earned him a spot as one of the early favorites for the 2023 Kentucky Derby.
