Today’s 2023 NBA Summer League Best Bets

Here are our top picks for today’s 2023 NBA Summer League action.

76ers vs. Pelicans

The 76ers have lost three straight games heading into today’s matchup. The Sixers most recently lost to the Clippers, 102-91. The starting five all added double-figures, but those same five players combined for just eight assists total. Let’s play a Pelicans team that is 3-1 in the Summer League. New Orleans is getting awesome production out of Dereon Seabron and Dyson Daniels. I also like the Pelicans’ depth on the bench more. Back New Orleans.

Pick: Pelicans -2 (-110)

Nets vs. Cavaliers

The Nets and Cavaliers will play for a chance at the Summer League Finals tomorrow. The Nets have gone 3-1 in the Summer League after a 99-94 win over the Raptors. Jalen Wilson is looking like an awesome get for the Nets. Armoni Brooks added 16 points and nine rebounds in 33 minutes in that win. Kennedy Chandler and David Duke Jr. have also been reliable scorers. On the other hand, the Cavaliers don’t have much depth coming off the bench. But Sam Merrill, Sharife Cooper, and Craig Porter Jr. have shown up for the Cavs this season. Isaiah Mobley and Emoni Bates are also hot-and-cold scorers who could put up 20+ in any game. The Cavaliers haven’t lost in the Summer League, but I still like the Nets’ depth more.

Pick: Nets +3 (-110)

Pistons vs. Pacers

The Pistons might not play Jalen Duren, James Wiseman, or Jaden Ivey. But they’ll still allow Ausar Thompson and Marcus Sasser to play. Those two have been electric, along with Malcolm Cazalon. However, I’d be worried about the depth when the Pistons are without those other three guys. They’ll take on the Pacers, who just got smoked by the Mavericks. Ben Sheppard and Jabari Walker will be the top scorers, with Benedict Mathurin and Andrew Nembhard potentially sitting out. But I still think Indiana has more depth and efficient scorers. Give me the Pacers.

Pick: Pacers +2 (-110)

Jazz vs. Rockets

The Jazz and Rockets will play the second semifinal game of the Summer League. Both teams have yet to lose a game. In their most recent game, the Jazz knocked off the Suns, 97-93. The Jazz played without Ochai Agbaji and Keyonte George. However, Johnny Juzang stepped up and added 24 points with seven rebounds and four assists in 30 minutes. Meanwhile, the Rockets have let Cam Whitmore play loose. He just scored 26 points on 11-for-21 from the field against the Warriors. The Rockets scored 26 points with a seven-man rotation that didn’t include Jabari Smith Jr. The Rockets still have Darius Days, and Trevor Hudgins is playing very well too. Back the Rockets here.

Pick: Rockets -4.5 (-110)

Thunder vs. Spurs

Oklahoma City is still relying on Ousmane Dieng to lead this Thudner team. Dieng scored 17 points and added five rebounds with five assists in a loss to the Wizards last time out. Jared Butler has played well at the guard spot, but the offense seems weak after Jaylin, Jalen Williams, Tre Mann, and Chet Holmgren stopped playing. Meanwhile, the Spurs ran into the same issue. They scored just 73 points in their last game against the Pistons. The offense isn’t good. I’m on the Under.

Pick: Under 180.5 (-110)

Heat vs. Trail Blazers

Miami had their most embarrassing performance last time, losing to the Nuggets 112-81. The Heat sat their top players and needed more production with Orlando Robinson and Jamie Jaquez Jr. out. Meanwhile, the Blazers don’t have Scoot Henderson but Shaedon Sharpe had led the Blazers through the Summer League. The Blazers destroyed the Magic last time and looked good in that game. I’ll back the Trail Blazers to finish the Summer League strong.

Pick: Trail Blazers -3 (-110)

Hawks vs. Mavericks

Atlanta won its last three Summer League matchups. But it still wasn’t good enough to make the semifinals of the Summer League. The Hawks continue to score nearly 100 points lately. Kobe Bufkin and Tyrese Martin have been a good tandem at guard for the Hawks. Atlanta also had three players score in double-figures off the bench in their latest win against the 76ers. On the other hand, the Mavericks also won three straight games. Dallas added 112 points against the Pacers in their last game. A.J. Lawson scored 24 points, and Jordan Walker scored 21 off the bench. Olivier-Maxence Prosper also had a great match, along with Mike Miles. Early first-round pick, Dereck Lively II, has had some excellent moments on both ends of the ball. I still think we’ll see a lot of offense in this game. Give me the Over.

Pick: Over 182.5 (-110)

Lakers vs. Clippers

In the final consolation game, the Lakers will look to earn their third Summer League win. The Lakers won three straight in Las Vegas and then lost their last two. In their previous game, the Lakers lost to Memphis, 100-69. Things are falling apart for the Lakers. Only one player added double-figures for the Lakers in the starting lineup. Meanwhile, the Clippers have won three straight games. In their last game, Kobe Brown scored 35 points for the Clippers in 33 minutes against the 76ers. The Clippers got more depth and aren’t afraid to play the players who are playing their best. Take the Clippers.

Pick: Clippers +1 (-110)
