Today’s 2023 NBA Summer League Best Bets

Here are our top picks for today’s 2023 NBA Summer League action.

Clippers vs. Grizzlies

The Clippers are 1-1 in Summer League play. After a solid defensive effort, they just defeated the Kings, 80-70. The Clippers are led by Xavier Moon and Kobe Brown, who added double-figures in their most recent game. But they’re among the few teams getting quality minutes from the bench. On the other hand, the Grizzlies couldn’t figure out the Cleveland Cavaliers last time out. Memphis lost 100-77, despite having three experienced forwards in the lineup. Memphis continued to play very big to start the game, which didn’t work against Cleveland. I’ll back the Under in this game.

Pick: Under 180 (-110)

Timberwolves vs. Hawks

Minnesota and Atlanta are 1-1 in Summer League play in Las Vegas. The Timberwolves just recently lost to the Jazz, 108-96. Meanwhile, the Hawks earned a 98-93 win over the Nuggets. Right away, it’s likely that this game will get over the total. The Timberwolves had three players score at least 17 points against the Jazz, including Leonard Miller, who added 20 points. On the other hand, Atlanta’s Tyrese Martin scored 21 points in 25 minutes for the Hawks. The Timberwolves had trouble with Utah’s guards last time out. It won’t be easy against Atlanta’s guards, either. Grab the Over.

Pick: Over 182.5 (-110)

Warriors vs. Mavericks

Golden State played a few games in California. But those extra games haven’t translated into Las Vegas. The Warriors are 0-2 in Las Vegas and lost to the Pelicans 94-86. Lester Quinones continues to shine for the Warriors, and Brandin Podziemski almost had a triple-double, but even with the Pelicans shooting 20% from three, the Warriors still lost. Dallas will likely shoot better from the field. The Mavericks just scored 111 points against the 76ers in their last game. Jaden Hardy added 24 points to lead Dallas and has had an awesome Summer League. Dallas is also getting more production from their bench and giving multiple guys more than 15 minutes from the bench. I’ll go with the Mavericks here.

Pick: Mavericks -4 (-110)

Raptors vs. Pistons

Toronto’s offense has been miserable in Las Vegas. The Raptors have averaged just 75 points in two games in the Summer League this season. Gradey Dick has stood out a little bit for Toronto. But he’s not taking over games like Toronto may have hoped. On the other hand, the Raptors now have to take on one of the best offenses in the Summer League. The Pistons just scored 101 points against the Rockets and still lost. But this Pistons offense has Marcus Sasser. Jaden Ivey, Auser Thompson, James Wiseman, and Jalen Duren. The Raptors are toast.

Pick: Pistons -4.5 (-110)

Thunder vs. Pacers

There are just a few teams with ridiculous Summer League rosters. The Pacers and Thunder are two teams with so much talent and experience. The Thunder likely won’t play Chet Holmgren, Jaylin Williams, and Jalen Williams anymore. It’s up to K.J. Williams and Jaden Shackelford. On the other hand, the Pacers just added 108 against the Magic. They still have Jabari Walker, Benedict Mathurin, Ben Sheppard, and Andrew Nembhard available. So give me the Pacers +1.5. Indiana is loaded. They might win it all if they keep this roster throughout the Summer League.

Pick: Pacers +1.5 (-110)

Knicks vs. Magic

The Knicks and Magic need help to begin the Summer League. The Knicks didn’t have a first-round pick. This was expected. But the Magic had some first-round picks. This wasn’t expected from the Magic. Orlando let the Pacers add 108 points on them in their most recent game. Anthony Black has struggled from the field, and Jett Howard hasn’t impressed on the offensive end. But the Knicks probably have the worst Summer League team this year. Orlando should break through tonight and earn their first win.

Pick: Magic -1.5 (-110)

Nuggets vs. Jazz

The Jazz have scored 105 and 108 in their first two Summer League contests in Las Vegas. Utah’s Keyonte George is looking like the MVP of the Summer League right now. He’s been extremely consistent on the offensive end. But also Johnny Juzang added 26 points off the bench for the Jazz in their last game. That might’ve been enough to get him in the starting lineup tonight. On the other hand, Collin Gillespie and Jalen Pickett are doing their thing at the guard spot for the Nuggets. Hunter Tyson also added 16 off the bench. Denver’s not playing the best defensively, but they have guys who can score consistently. I’m on the Over here.

Pick: Over 184.5 (-110)

Lakers vs. Celtics

Los Angeles is 2-0 in the Summer League in Las Vegas. They benefited from playing some games in California before playing in Las Vegas. The Lakers have added at least 93 points in each game and are getting solid contributions from the starting five. Max Christie and Jalen Hood-Schifino have been relied on the most. Meanwhile, Colin Castleton is looking like one of the best Summer League centers right now. He added 21 points and 14 rebounds in 26 minutes for the Lakers against the Hornets. On the other hand, Boston’s roster doesn’t have too many notable players. Boston got 41 points from the bench. Jordan Walsh is the big name for Boston. But he only scored 12 points on 4-for-14 from the field. Give me the Lakers to keep their Las Vegas success going.

Pick: Lakers -3.5 (-110)
