2023 NCAA Tournament: Sweet 16 Parlay Picks & Predictions

With eight games over two days, there’s no shortage of action to parse through and find value. While I typically stay away from parlays, I’ve found one I like for the Sweet 16 action, as we take a closer look at a three-teamer I have cooked up.

2023 March Madness: Sweet 16 Parlay

(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)

(3) UConn (-3.5) vs. (8) Arkansas | Total 140

On Thursday night, the No. 8 seed Arkansas Razorbacks and the No. 4 seed UConn Huskies square off in the Sweet 16.

After a stunning upset victory over top-seeded Kansas, the Razorbacks will aim to advance to the Elite Eight for the third consecutive season. UConn, however, hasn’t struggled in either of the previous two rounds and is predicted to win once more with the Huskies starting as 3.5-point favorites in March Madness odds.

Arkansas is most effective when it can run the floor on the fastbreak and attack the rim because it shoots poorly from long-range and mid-range. Unfortunately for them, the Huskies rank 13th in defensive efficiency at the rim and 35th in the nation for transition defense, and I largely think the Razorbacks get stalled out here early on.

Pick: UConn -3.5 (-110)

(1) Houston (-7) vs. (5) Miami | Total 138

Can Houston truly withstand a 40-minute Miami offensive onslaught? No one seems to realize, but Miami is also capable of playing some defense. Although they may concede a lot of points, they also shoot well from three and do a wonderful job of stealing the ball.

Houston also plays staggering defense, and I think points will be at a premium in this one. In a game I have closer to a coin flip, I love the value on Miami here.

Pick: Miami ML (+255)

(6) Creighton (-10) vs. (15) Princeton | Total 140

Creighton appears to have too many offensive options and too much inside size for Princeton to continue living up to its Cinderella tale. The Tigers narrowly defeated a timid Arizona offense that was playing not to lose rather than to win. In Round 2, Mizzou’s reliance on inconsistent jump shooting got them caught as well.

The Bluejays, on the other hand, recently defeated a tough Baylor Bears squad 85-76 as a result of outstanding shooting at all three levels (47.3% FG, 45.8% 3PT, 100.0% FT), a 14-5 assist advantage, and a 34-29 rebounding advantage. Although betting Princeton +10 could be appealing to some, I believe the Bluejays will win this one handily and by a significant margin.

Pick: Creighton -10 (-110)

Parlay Odds (+116)
