2023 NFL MVP Winner Best Bets & Picks

It hasn’t even been a week since Patrick Mahomes was named the NFL’s Most Valuable Player for the second time in his young career. But it’s never too early to start looking at next year’s odds to find some value for MVP of the 2023 season.

Here are some early options to keep on your radar for next year’s MVP award.

Early 2023 NFL MVP Winner Best Bets

Jalen Hurts (13/1)

Hurts probably would’ve won MVP this season had he not missed two games with a non-throwing shoulder injury. The Eagles came up just short of winning the Super Bowl against Mahomes and the Chiefs. The Eagles are loaded with high-end draft capital this offseason. Assuming Philly’s offense stays intact, Hurts could ball out in 2023.

We saw a dual-threat QB take home MVP honors when Lamar Jackson won the award in 2019 by an unanimous vote. Hurts has a similarly electric profile and should be higher than fifth on the odds board.

Trevor Lawrence (17/1)

Lawrence took great strides during his sophomore season, leading Jacksonville to an AFC South title and a trip to the divisional round of the playoffs. The former No. 1 pick started to show off the skills that made him a prodigious draft prospect, throwing for 4,113 yards, 25 touchdowns and only eight picks.

After needing a reset from a catastrophic rookie year under Urban Meyer, year two under Doug Pederson could be Lawrence’s chance to truly breakout.

Justin Fields (30/1)

Like Hurts, Fields brings an electric skill set to the table. Despite having an atrocious team around him, Fields managed to put up 2,242 passing yards, 1,143 rushing yards and 25 total touchdowns. The Bears are armed with the most cap space in the league and have the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft. Big things are expected this offseason.

There’s also a great narrative if Fields can take the Bears from the worst team in the league to the playoffs. It’s a tall task, but, at 30/1, it’s worth a flyer.

Kyler Murray (50/1)

I get why Murray’s a long shot. He’s coming off an injury-plagued year in which Arizona’s offense was stuck in the mud all season. I just can’t completely ignore him at this hefty price.

The Cardinals are under new management with former Eagles defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon taking over for Kliff Kingsbury. While we don’t know who will be calling the plays in Arizona just yet, anything is better than Kingsbury’s scheme.

Health is critical here, as Murray has missed nine games over the past two years. Still, there’s absolutely a scenario where Murray stays healthy, the Cardinals make improvements in the trenches and he throws for 4,000 yards and rushes for 1,000 while leading the Cards to the playoffs.

An electric mobile QB getting what should be an upgrade in coaching and in personnel? I’ll take a shot on Murray at this number.
