2023 NHL Playoffs Same-Game Parlay Picks & Predictions: Saturday (May 27)

The Dallas Stars have made the Western Conference Finals a series. Well, maybe that’s a stretch. But they did force the series to a fifth game by winning on home ice in overtime Thursday night.

Now the series heads back to Sin City, where the Golden Knights will look to make their second Stanley Cup Final in franchise history on home ice. Will Dallas have enough to send the series back home? Here’s my same-game parlay and prediction for Game 5.

Saturday’s Best NHL Playoffs Same Game Parlay

All odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook

Dallas Stars (+115) at Vegas Golden Knights (-140) | Total 5.5

    • Leg 1: Stars +115
    • Leg 2: Under 6.5 goals
    • Leg 3: Roope Hintz anytime goalscorer
    • Odds: +550

Dallas was a deserving winner of Game 4, and for the first time in the series, the results synced up with the postgame metrics. Dallas held slight advantages at 5-on-5 and won the full game expected goals battle 3.53-2.76.

If you look at the series at large, Dallas has generally been the better team at 5-on-5. The Stars have controlled possession and are generating more scoring chances in the series. Yet, Vegas holds an 11-4 advantage at 5-0n-5, despite an expected goals margin that favors Dallas slightly.

The difference in this series has been Jake Oettinger, who simply hasn’t been good in this series. That changed in Game 4. Oettinger stopped 37 of 39 shots and posted +0.44 goals saved above expected, which is the first time he’s put up a positive mark in that category in the series. A goalie as good as Oettinger can heat up at any time, and maybe Dallas’ Game 4 victory will provide a much-needed confidence boost.

I’m not sure Dallas has what it takes to climb out of a 3-0 series hole. The Golden Knights are a really good team with very few flaws and a high ceiling. Goaltender Adin Hill has been completely fine, and that’s enough for this team to win, considering its depth on the blue line.

But it’s worth noting that Games 1 and 2 went to overtime and truly could’ve gone either way. While Dallas was terrible in Game 3, they bounced back in an impressive way in Game 4 and finally got a result. I have a sneaky suspicion Oettinger is about to start heating up, and he’ll need to be great, as Dallas will once again be shorthanded without Jamie Benn.

I’ll take a stab at the underdog Stars, as well as a slightly juiced under.
