2023 Preakness Stakes Predictions: Blazing Sevens
- Post Position: 7
- Odds: 6/1
Blazing Sevens will be fresh coming into this race, which is definitely a positive for a horse with a lot of potential. He has won two races, though the last victory was back in October of 2022. His last time out, he finished third behind Tapit Trice and Verifying in a 1 1/8 mile race. The other three races he entered, were won by Kentucky Derby favorite Forte. He did finish just behind National Treasure in November, but this is a horse that can run with every horse in this race and is well-rested after a month between races.

Blazing Sevens Profile
Blazing Sevens is a three-year-old thoroughbred colt owned by Paul Reddam and trained by Doug O'Neill. Although he has only raced a handful of times, Blazing Sevens has already proven himself as a force to be reckoned with. He has won three out of his four starts, with his only loss coming in his debut race.
Blazing Sevens' last race was the Grade 2 San Vicente Stakes on February 12, 2023, at Santa Anita Park in California. He started the race as the favorite and did not disappoint. He took the lead early and never looked back, winning by a comfortable margin of 2 3/4 lengths. This race showed that Blazing Sevens has both speed and endurance, making him a formidable opponent in any race.
Blazing Sevens' sire is the famous stallion, Uncle Mo, who won the Eclipse Award for outstanding two-year-old colt in 2010. Uncle Mo has sired many successful horses, including Nyquist, who won the Kentucky Derby in 2016. Blazing Sevens' dam is Lady Ten, who is also the dam of the multiple graded stakes winner, Ten City.
Blazing Sevens' racing style is to start strong and try to maintain the lead throughout the race. He has shown that he has the speed to take the lead early, and the stamina to keep it. This style has worked well for him in his previous races, and it will be interesting to see if it holds up in the more competitive field of the Preakness Stakes.
