Blue Collar U vs. Big 5

Blue Collar U is the Buffalo alumni base. Blue Collar U won the entire tournament last year and they'll have most of the squad returning this year. Nick Perkins, Wes Clark, and CJ Massinburg will be back. This team has experience and talent. They'll face Big 5, who are 1-1 in The Basketball Tournament's history. The Big 5 essentially represents all of the Philadelphia schools. It's a fun squad, but Blue Collar U is a top-five team in the Tournament this year. Take Blue Collar U in this one.

The Nerd Team vs. Happy Valley Hoopers

The Nerd Team has gone 2-2 in The Basketball Tournament's history. This team is similar to last year's team and last year's team did some damage in Syracuse last year. They'll take on Penn State's alumni team, Happy Valley Hoopers. The alumni team includes John Harrar, so you just know this game is going to be a dog fight. I like teams with more chemistry and experience though. That's The Nerd Team.

Boeheimâ€™s Army vs. Team Gibson

Boeheim's Army has the most wins all-time in The Basketball Tournament with 22. They've got a roster of 14 people, which is a little bit bigger than most teams. This team lost in the second round last year but earned the top spot in 2021. And yes, if you were wondering, Jimmy Boeheim will be on the roster. Meanwhile, Team Gibson features a whole new team led by GM, Taj Gibson. They've even got Devin Funchess on the team! Team Gibson's an exciting team, but it's unlikely they come close to knocking out Boeheim's Army in the first round.

Virginia Dream vs. The Commonwealth

Virginia Dream has played in one game in The Basketball Tournament's history and lost it. This team has many new additions and they're hoping those additions help them get into the second round for the first time in The Basketball Tournament. On the other hand, they'll take on The Commonwealth in the first round. The Commonwealth are the UMass Alumni. This will be their first stint in The Basketball Tournament. The Commonwealth look to have higher caliber players for this matchup. Therefore, I'll side with them.

Pick: The Commonwealth -7.5 (-115)

Program for Autism vs. Nasty Nati

This will be the only game that isn't in the first round on Monday. Program for Autism defeated Team DRC and Fort Wayne Champs to make it into the quarterfinals of The Basketball Tournament. Olufemi Loujobi has averaged 19 points per game. He's also averaged a team-high 5.5 rebounds per game. JCovan Brown has also helped out with 7.5 assists per game. So this team is well-balanced coming into to this matchup. They'll face Nasty Nati and it won't be an easy assignment. Nasty Nati has Jarron Cumberland and Jacob Evans doing most of the scoring. They've combined to score an average of 48.5 points per game through the first two games. As long as Deshaun Morman doesn't see the court, I like Nasty Nati to win tonight's game.
