2023 The Basketball Tournament (TBT) Odds & Picks: Thursday (7/27)

The 2023 NBA Summer League just wrapped up, but there is plenty of summer basketball yet to be played. The Big3 rolls on, and now fans get to enjoy TBT, The Basketball Tournament. Games will be featured on ESPN throughout the tournament, and we’ll have you covered with picks and predictions for each matchup. TBT believes “high stakes competition is the most powerful force in sports.” They’ll offer an open tournament and games of consequence daily which should result in some electrifying competition. Let’s take a look at our top picks for today’s TBT action.

Today’s 2023 The Basketball Tournament (TBT) Bets

Here are our top picks for today’s 2023 TBT action.

Gutter Cats vs. Shell Shock

The Gutter Cats escaped with a 77-72 win over The Nawf. They got an incredible performance out of QJ Peterson. He added 30 points with five rebounds in nearly 31 minutes. Jarell Eddie and Tai Odiase added double-figures but weren't major x-factors in that game. They'll now take on Shell Shock, who earned a 77-74 win over Gataverse. Shell Shock got a solid contribution from Darryl Morsell, but the depth of this team isn't great. I'll stick with the Gutter Cats in the second round.

Pick: Gutter Cats -4.5 (-115)

Best Virginia vs. Herd That

Best Virginia came into The Basketball Tournament with high expectations. However, they only defeated DuBois Dream by two points in their first game. Kevin Jones and Erik Stevenson showed up. Teyvon Myers also did well when on the court. But the rest of the team didn't produce much in the Round of 64. On the other hand, Herd That dominated Zoo Crew, 86-71. Rob Gray put on a show with 27 points, five rebounds, and three steals. Although Herd That has a lot of players on the roster, they're committed to playing their best six players for most of the game. I'll ride Herd That in this one.

Pick: Herd That +4.5 (-115)

The Ville vs. Jackson TN Underdawgs

The Ville looks like the team to beat in The Basketball Tournament. After a 91-67 victory over War Ready, The Ville looks super legit. Russ Smith added 21 points, and Peyton Siva added seven assists. When Smith, Nick Mayo, Chinanu Onuaku, Chris Dowe, and Kyle Kuric are on the floor, Louisville will be hard to stop. They'll meet Jackson TN Underdawgs in tonight's game. They had an intriguing victory over Eberlein Drive, earning a 20-point win. Tevin Glass and Desonta Bradford will likely be the two leaders of this team moving forward. However, I still think Louisville has more depth and talent.

Pick: The Ville -4 (-115)

Sideline Cancer vs. Challenge ALS: Florida

Sideline Cancer started its journey in The Basketball Tournament with an 83-72 win against Ram Nation. Sideline Cancer played nine players for at least 12 minutes. So they're pretty deep and have five players in double-figures in the first game. Meanwhile, Challenge ALS: Florida defeated DawgTown, 95-66. Challenge ALS: Florida played eight guys for at least 12 minutes. All eight of those players finished with a +7 or better. Christopher Warren played 28 minutes and finished with a +31 while scoring 14 points while adding four rebounds and four assists. This should be a fun matchup, but I'm taking Challenge ALS: Florida here.

Pick: Challenge ALS: Florida (-115)
