2023 The Players Championship: Best Longshot Picks & Predictions
With the 2023 Arnold Palmer Invitational in the rearview mirror, we now look forward to this weekâs THE PLAYERS Championship in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. The Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass will host this tournament once again, which it has done annually since 1982.
TPC Sawgrass is a par-72, 7,275-yard track that plays particularly difficult, mainly due to the abundance of hazards and thick rough. Looking at the top of previous leaderboards, the statistic that predicts the most success at this event is Scrambling, which makes sense considering the high level of difficulty of this Pete Dye-designed course.
Below, I will give out my two best longshot bets to win THE PLAYERS Championship.

2023 THE PLAYERS Championship: Best Longshot Bets
These plays are 0.2u and 0.1u, or 0.2% and 0.1% of your betting bankroll.
Tyrrell Hatton (+3500 via DraftKings Sportsbook): 0.2u
The first golfer we are targeting this week is Tyrrell Hatton, who currently sits at 35/1 at DraftKings Sportsbook. Posting a 13th-place finish in this tournament last year, Hatton looks to make another push as he enters this week in tremendous form.
Currently ranked 69th in the FedEx Cup standings, Hatton is 5/5 on made-cuts this season with three top-20 finishes. Not only is Hatton playing on the weekends, but he continues to flirt with winning, finishing T6 at the WM Phoenix Open and T4 at last weekâs Arnold Palmer Invitational.
A very talented player at getting up and down, Hatton ranks 40th on TOUR this season in Scrambling at an impressive 64.6% clip. Looking incredible last week at Bay Hill, Hatton had numerous opportunities to walk away as the champion, something he could redeem this week.
Sungjae Im (+4000 via DraftKings Sportsbook): 0.1u
Another golfer to target this week is Sungjae Im, who sits at 40/1 at DraftKings Sportsbook. Playing some incredible golf this season, Im ranks 28th in the FedEx Cup Standings and has made 10 of his 11 cuts.
Of those 10 made cuts, he boasts four top-10 finishes, including his T4 finish at the Farmers Insurance Open and T6 finish at the WM Phoenix Open. A big part of Imâs success is his ability to get up and down.
On TOUR this season, he ranks 17th in Scrambling at a stellar 67.4%. In fact, Im has finished inside the top 50 on TOUR in Scrambling in all four of his professional seasons.
One of the best scramblers on TOUR, Im has utilized that ability to post two straight made-cuts in this tournament, including his 17th-place finish in 2021. At 40/1, it is worth taking a shot at the up-and-down artist to claim his third professional victory.
Other Outright Winner Plays:
-
- Max Homa (+2200 via Circa): 0.4u
- Tony Finau (+3000 via DraftKings Sportsbook): 0.3u
Best of luck!
