2024 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am Odds & Picks: First-Round Leader

It will be a wild week on the Monterrey Peninsula as the Tour continues its California swing. Steady winds in the 20 mph range, with gusts expected to reach 40 mph or more, will make life difficult for the professionals and damn near impossible for the amateurs on Thursday. Sunday’s forecast looks even worse, with steady rain and winds as high as 50 mph or more!

Forecasts aside, the field will tee it up on different courses yet again this week. Half the field will play Pebble Beach Golf Links, while the other half will go around Spyglass Hill Golf Course. Those who get to play Spyglass Thursday will have a bit of an advantage, as the course is inland and has more trees to provide a bit of a shield from the high winds. Meanwhile, the rest of the field will have to deal with the winds coming off the oceanside course directly.

Let’s get to our first-round leader picks.

2024 Pebble Beach Pro-Am Best First-Round Leader Bets

(Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)

Jordan Spieth (16-1)

The 30-year-old Jordan Spieth hasn’t teed it up in competition since The Sentry Tournament of Champions a month ago, but with four rounds of 67 or better and a third-place finish, Spieth seems to have found his groove once again. The University of Texas alum loves it here at Pebble Beach, with two top-five finishes in the last three years and going 11-for-11 making the cut. The three-time Major champion is poised for a big year.

Spieth drew Spyglass Hill on Thursday, so the elements may not come into play as much. If the 12th-year pro can hit the fairways off the tee this week, look for him to be atop the leaderboard at the end of the first round.

Tommy Fleetwood (33-1)

Tommy Fleetwood, like Spieth, also hasn’t teed it up competitively in a month. But, who better to back in poor weather conditions than an Englishman? Fleetwood grew up playing in rough conditions across the pond, so this week’s forecast shouldn’t phase him much. While he has only teed it up once here at Pebble Beach in 2019, the 33-year-old should have an advantage over most of the field in windy conditions. Getting Fleetwood at this number seems like incredible value and is something you can’t pass up.

If Spieth doesn’t post the best number at Spyglass on Thursday, I expect Fleetwood to be the one to do it.

Maverick McNealy (35-1)

This pick is all about home-field advantage. Maverick McNealy’s parents own a home along the 16th fairway at Pebble Beach, so he’s extremely familiar with the course. Outside of a WD due to a shoulder injury last year, the Stanford alum has finished in the top-five two of the last three times he’s teed it up here. If he can navigate the high winds at Pebble, and he should be quite comfortable doing so, look for McNealy to post the best number on Thursday at the oceanside course.

Best of luck, and let’s cash some tickets!
