With the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes in the rearview mirror, it’s time for the 2024 Belmont Stakes. The final jewel of the triple crown, the Test of the Champion is typically the longest of the three races at a full 1.5 miles. However, the 2024 version of the Belmont States will run at the historic Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., rather than Belmont Park, as renovations are underway at the race's usual home. That means the distance is being shortened from 1.5 miles to 1.25 miles due to the difference in track circumference. Despite not running in the Kentucky Derby or Preakness Stakes, Mindframe has the potential to be the best horse of the bunch during the 2024 Triple Crown series. You can’t argue with the trainer/jockey tandem of Todd Pletcher and Irad Ortiz. Pletcher has four Belmont victories to his name, while Ortiz has two. Ortiz also should be good to ride Saturday after suffering an injury scare after being unseated from a horse Thursday at Saratoga. While lightly raced, Mindframe has posted a pair of triple-digit speed figures in his two starts, winning them both. In a race filled with familar names from past Triple Crown runs, Mindframe has the talent to top them all.
