Texas A&M Aggies (+215) at Tennessee Volunteers (-290) | O/U 9.5 (-136/+102)

This is a winner-take-all Game 3, and it’s the second straight season that the Championship Final has ended up going three games. It’s the fifth time since 2018 that the final has ended up going three games, too. In addition, Tennessee is attempting to come back from the Game 1 loss to become the first No. 1 overall seed to win it all in Omaha since 1999, when the Miami Hurricanes lifted the national championship trophy. Both of these teams are looking to secure their first national championship in program history.

The Aggies got off to a quick start in Game 1, 3B Gavin Grahovac smacked a leadoff home run on Saturday, and Texas A&M built a quick 2-0 after the top of the first inning. It was 7-1 after the top of the third inning, too, before the alarm clock went off for the Volunteers.

A&M received tremendous pitching performances from the trio of Evan Aschenbeck, Ryan Prager and Josh Stewart shut down the Vols. Prager started Saturday, and he allowed two runs while scattering eight hits with no walks and six strikeouts in an 81-pitch effort. Aschenbeck was the star of the show in relief. With the Vols close to within 9-5 after seven innings, Aschenbeck posted goose eggs the rest of the way. He finished the game, totaling 2 2/3 scoreless innings with just two hits allowed, no walks, and seven strikeouts for his eight outs recorded.

Second baseman Kaeden Kent was the hitting star in Game 1, going 3-for-5 with a 2-run home run and four RBI. Outfielder Cam Sorrell also drove in a pair of runs in the Championship Finals opener.

In Game 2, it was A&M again getting off to a quick start. Outfielder Jace LaViolette drove a Drew Beam offering into the seats, giving Texas A&M a 1-0 lead after one inning. However, the pitching on both sides settled down considerably. Beam ended up allowing just the solo homer, three total hits, two walks, and seven strikeouts across four innings.

The Vols haven’t dropped back-to-back games since losing two in a row at Alabama way back on March 16-17. Tennessee will have to face sophomore LHP Justin Lamkin in Game 3. He has recorded 15 strikeouts and only four hits in a pair of wins against the Florida Gators. RPs Aschenbeck and Stewart will also be available out of the bullpen.

With Lamkin on the hill, and a cadre of power hitters brimming with confidence, as well as a bullpen led by Aschenbeck, it’s a good idea to back Texas A&M to take the national title game, and it is way more tempting to take it on the moneyline for the chance to more than double up.

In addition, we should see the bats fairly quiet in this title game. We had the Over cash in Game 1, but the Under cash with much higher stakes in Game 2. The intensity will be ratcheted to an all-time high, as each of these teams faces the butterflies of being the hero and bringing their school its first-ever national championship on the diamond. Expect the offensive production to be rather scarce.

As far as Same Game Parlays (SGPs) are concerned, you cannot pair Texas A&M and the Under, at least at the time of publishing. However, let’s roll with a three-sport parlay, tossing in Brazil from the Copa America tournament, as well as the Edmonton Oilers in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final.

Bet: Texas A&M Moneyline (+215) and Under 9.5 Total Runs (+102)

Three-Leg Parlay #1 Odds +587

  • Leg 1: Texas A&M Moneyline (+215)
  • Leg 2: Brazil 3-way Moneyline (-850)
  • Leg 3: Edmonton Oilers Moneyline (-105)

If you’re building a parlay, let’s keep it simple, rolling with three moneyline winners in a single parlay, play Brazil to top Costa Rica in Copa America, the Edmonton Oilers to raise Lord Stanley’s Cup in Game 7, and Texas A&M to win its first-ever national title. Good luck with your plays!
