Forever Young will be the latest Japanese-bred horse to enter the Kentucky Derby with plenty of hype. It helps that Forever Young hasnâ€™t lost in five starts, including wins in the UAE Derby and Saudi Derby. However, weâ€™ve seen plenty of international horses with similar accolades struggle at Churchill Downs. The son of Real Steel, Forever Youngâ€™s win at the UAE Derby came at 1 3/16 miles, which is just shy of the Kentucky Derbyâ€™s mile-and-a-quarter length.

While Japanese-bred horses have disappointed in the past, Forever Young could represent the countryâ€™s best shot at a Derby win.
