2023 Kentucky Derby Predictions: Just A Touch

If youâ€™re looking for a horse with pedigree and a win under its belt, then Just A Touch might be the choice. Just A Touch is sired by the legendary Justify, the most recent horse to win the Triple Crown. He won his racing debut back in January, and has two second-place finishes in the 2024 Gotham G3 at Aqueduct, as well as a runner-up finish in the Blue Grass Stakes at Keeneland.

Just A Touch is trained by Brad Cox and will be ridden by Florent Geroux. The Cox-Geroux duo is 1-for-7 in the Derby, with its lone victory coming with Mandaloun in the infamous 2021 race, where the actual race winner, Medina Spirit, was disqualified months later following a post-race drug test. While Just a Touchâ€™s inexperience could be a drawback, itâ€™s worth noting that his sire Justify and last yearâ€™s winner Mage both won the Derby in their fourth-career start after not racing as a 2-year-old. Plus, Mage won this race from the eighth post last year too. With a stalking style and a perfectly fine post position, Just a Touch is a horse to consider.
