2024 Kentucky Derby Longshot Odds & Sleeper Picks

The Kentucky Derby is Saturday, May 4th. Fierceness, Sierra Leone and Catching Freedom are the three race favorites, each with odds at less than 10/1. However, the field becomes quite muddied after that. Fourteen of the field's 19 horses have odds of 20/1 or worse. Can any of these longshot horses pull off an improbable Kentucky Derby win? Let’s dive into our favorite sleeper picks.

2024 Kentucky Derby Sleeper Picks

Let’s look into some of the best longshot odds and sleeper picks for the 2024 Kentucky Derby.

Domestic Product (30/1)

On March 9th, Domestic Product won the Tampa Bay Derby (G3), running a time of 1:45.47. It was slightly faster than his time at the Holy Bull (G3), where he finished second. But more important than his placement at Holy Bull is who Domestic Product beat in that race. As he finished second, he was just ahead of Kentucky Derby-favorite Fierceness, who finished that race in third.

Domestic Product's odds are so long because he struggles the further he goes. This could be a surprise horse at the Preakness Stakes, should he run, but the Kentucky Derby may be a tad too long for him. That said, Irad Ortiz Jr. is a very good jockey, even if his best Kentucky Derby finish is fourth place. He will have to ensure Domestic Product runs a perfect race to have a chance, but any horse that has beaten the race favorite this year deserves a look.

Endlessly (30/1)

Endlessly has won five of his six starts. You'd think a horse with that resume would have better odds than 30/1. However, Endlessly has never raced on dirt, which could be problematic entering the Kentucky Derby.

Even with a lack of dirt races, Endlessly is a horse worth monitoring. He hasn't run against any of the favorites in this year's Kentucky Derby. Of the horses he has competed against who will also be running on Saturday, he's proven to be significantly better than all of them. Jockey Umberto Rispoli is a wild card, as he's only raced in one other Kentucky Derby. In that race, he finished 14th. Endlessly is a risky play, but when you get these types of odds on a horse that has won a lot, he’s worth a look.

T O Password (30/1)

There is so little information available on T O Password that he becomes one of the best longshot plays at this year’s race. He has won both of his starts but hasn’t competed against any horses in the field. In his last win at the Fukuryu Stakes, he slowed coming down the home stretch but held on for the victory.

To have a shot in the Kentucky Derby, T O Password must avoid running from the front as it has previously done. His trainer, Daisuke Takayanagi, has said as much, hoping the horse will run from the middle of the pack and have more left at the end. The problem is T O Password is not the best closer in this race. But if other horses go out too fast or get boxed in deep in the pack, T O Password has the talent to shock the entire field and win on Saturday.
