2024 Masters Odds & Picks: Head-To-Head Matchups (Round 2)

The weather was a huge factor on Thursday, with wind and rain delaying the tournament for a few hours and play being suspended due to darkness. Some will finish up their first round, but we still have Round 2 matchups. The same weather is forecasted for Friday, so we’ll who can adjust and who can’t. Here are our top head-to-head matchups and picks for Round 2 of The Masters.

2024 Masters Odds & Picks

Scottie Scheffler (-166) vs. Jon Rahm (+130)

There is a reason Scottie Scheffler is the No. 1 golfer in the world: He has seven top-ten finishes and two tournament wins in 2024. He came into The Masters with +450 odds to win; only Tiger Woods (+350) has had better odds. Last year, in Round 2, he lost his chance to grab the green jacket when he shot 75 that day. Even shooting -3 the next two rounds, he would still finish T10.

Although he's not leading, he's still the favorite. That's because he shot well with a 6-under 66 and had a bogey-free outing for the first time at Augusta. If he continues to play like that, and with some luck, like that shot on 13 where it stayed on the bank when maybe it shouldn't have, he'll see green.

The reigning Masters champion Jon Rahm has a history of delivering in Augusta, finishing in the top ten in his last five years. If he wants to continue that history, he must shake off that 1-over opening round. Fridays seem like his best days as he has hit the second-best round of 66, and it's the only one where he's shot par or under each year.

Rahm said after his opening round, "It's a difficult golf course." While you can agree, his mentality doesn't seem like it's in the right place, and he only has one more day to change it, or he could do it before the weekend.

Pick: Scottie Scheffler (-166)

Bryson DeChambeau (-120) vs. Matt Fitzpatrick (-110)

Bryson DeChambeau had a stellar first round, finishing with a -7 and current lead. The day was suspended after it was called due to darkness. He says he is no longer trying to hit for distance, but that didn't stop him from smashing a 350-yard drive on the second hole, Par 5. He would chip for Biridie.

DeChambeau needs a great finish after a disastrous few years; he came into the 2021 Masters ranked No. 5 in the world, but today, he is 210th. In the last two Masters, he's never made it to the weekend, but it could be different.

It's been a roller coaster in 2024 for Fitzpatrick. He started off 2024 great with a T10 finish at the Valero Texas Open, followed by fifth at the Players championship, but he's missed the cut in the last three of the seven tournaments and just once inside the top 15.

The front nine was solid with six pars, a birdie, and a bogey, but that back nine is where it got interesting; he would birdie 11, 12, and 13 but finished with a bogey on 14, 17, and 18. He was shooting well off the tee, but he overshot with the iron, including on 18, where he hit into the patrons. shot

The winds will blow again on Friday, but we saw DeChambeau play it beautifully while Fitzpatrick struggled.

Pick: Bryson DeChambeau (-120)

Wyndham Clark (-130) vs. Will Zalatoris (+100)

It was a great start for the debutant Wyndham Clark, as he shot 3-under on the front nine, but like a few others today, that back nine proved to be difficult. Great off the tee, the irons weren't bothering him, even in those conditions, but the green is where he fumbled. He misjudged some slopes and some short opportunities and had instances where he had two or even three putts.

Will Zalatoris said after his final practice on Thursday that he wasn't anxious but more grateful to be playing in The Masters. Last year, he had to withdraw right before his tee time due to a back injury. It was a long recovery, and he thought his career was over, but he's back and in the top ten, shooting 2-under. He had great approaches on the par 5s, grabbing two birdies and an eagle. His putting was phenomenal, and it even saved him on 18.

Debutants have notably struggled at Augusta, and although Clark has been great leading up to this tournament, he may struggle again. Zalatoris looked comfortable that whole round, and don't be surprised if you see him in contention on Sunday.

 Pick: Will Zalatoris (+100)
