2024 Masters Odds, Picks & Predictions: Dustin Johnson

It’s Masters week, which means we’ll once again have the pleasure of watching the best golfers in the world take on the greatest golf course in the world, Augusta National.

Augusta is golf paradise, a stunning, immaculately groomed beauty that’s home to some of the most iconic holes on the planet, including the par-3 12th and the par-5 13th. No other course tests a player’s course-management skills and short game quite like Augusta.

This year’s tournament has no shortage of compelling storylines. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is trying to extend his recent run of dominance and win his second Green Jacket. Young stars such as Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay are hoping to break through and win at Augusta for the first time. The stars of the LIV Tour – including defending champion Jon Rahm and past champs Dustin Johnson and Patrick Reed – will once again compete with their PGA Tour counterparts.

Welcome to the third annual BettingPros Guide to The Masters. We’re going to examine the many wagering opportunities this tournament presents, taking a closer look at the golfers with the best chances of earning the coveted Green Jacket. Which players provide betting value and which are bad bets? Sit back and read on.

Course History

Dustin Johnson won The Masters in November 2020 after the tournament was delayed due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. The LIV golfer has the lifetime exemption thanks to that victory when he burned up the course with a 20-under 268. He was 48th last season, and in his past two Masters, he has averaged a 76.50 score in Round 3 and a 73.5 score in Round 4. He’ll need to regain his outstanding weekend form if he wants to be a threat again.

Recent Form

Johnson posted a 24th-place finish at the LIV Golf Miami event last week, and he has finished 21st or lower in each of his past three LIV events. He was able to secure the bag with a win at the LIV Golf Las Vegas event in early February, posting a 12-under 198.

Betting Outlook

Johnson is a bit of a wild card. He has rather short odds, mainly because he is a former winner. In the past two years, he has been able to make the cut at Augusta National, but he has folded like a tent on Moving Day and into the final round. He’ll obviously have to play four full rounds at Augusta National, rather than just three rounds he has grown accustomed to lately on the LIV Tour. There is some concern about his stamina, as he has just seemed to run out of gas in the past two trips to Augusta. There’s not a great deal of betting value here.
