2024 Masters Odds, Picks & Predictions: Max Homa

It’s Masters week, which means we’ll once again have the pleasure of watching the best golfers in the world take on the greatest golf course in the world, Augusta National.

Augusta is golf paradise, a stunning, immaculately groomed beauty that’s home to some of the most iconic holes on the planet, including the par-3 12th and the par-5 13th. No other course tests a player’s course-management skills and short game quite like Augusta.

This year’s tournament has no shortage of compelling storylines. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is trying to extend his recent run of dominance and win his second Green Jacket. Young stars such as Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay are hoping to break through and win at Augusta for the first time. The stars of the LIV Tour – including defending champion Jon Rahm and past champs Dustin Johnson and Patrick Reed – will once again compete with their PGA Tour counterparts.

Welcome to the third annual BettingPros Guide to The Masters. We’re going to examine the many wagering opportunities this tournament presents, taking a closer look at the golfers with the best chances of earning the coveted Green Jacket. Which players provide betting value and which are bad bets? Sit back and read on.

Course History

Max Homa will be making his fifth appearance at The Masters, and the best is yet to come for the 33-year-old Californian. He missed the cut in his first two showings at Augusta National while finishing at or above par in 10 of his past 11 rounds at Augusta. While he has made the cut in his last two appearances, he has posted a dismal 74.5 scoring average in the past two events in Round 3 and a 78.0 scoring average in Round 4.

Recent Form

Homa struggled mightily at The Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass in mid-March, which was cause for concern. However, he is just two events removed from his only top-10 finish of the season at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Last week, he was a respectable 25th at the Valero Texas Open, bouncing back in the final two rounds after a subpar Round 2.

Betting Outlook

Homa comes with a lot of risk. While he measures up well in the strokes gained: total area and has been adequate with the putter, he has been rather poor in the strokes gained: off the tee department, ranking well below the field average. He does good work around the greens, and if he can get the putter working, he could be a problem on Sunday for other golfers.
