2024 Masters Odds, Picks & Predictions: Patrick Cantlay

It’s Masters week, which means we’ll once again have the pleasure of watching the best golfers in the world take on the greatest golf course in the world, Augusta National.

Augusta is golf paradise, a stunning, immaculately groomed beauty that’s home to some of the most iconic holes on the planet, including the par-3 12th and the par-5 13th. No other course tests a player’s course-management skills and short game quite like Augusta.

This year’s tournament has no shortage of compelling storylines. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is trying to extend his recent run of dominance and win his second Green Jacket. Young stars such as Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay are hoping to break through and win at Augusta for the first time. The stars of the LIV Tour – including defending champion Jon Rahm and past champs Dustin Johnson and Patrick Reed – will once again compete with their PGA Tour counterparts.

Welcome to the third annual BettingPros Guide to The Masters. We’re going to examine the many wagering opportunities this tournament presents, taking a closer look at the golfers with the best chances of earning the coveted Green Jacket. Which players provide betting value and which are bad bets? Sit back and read on.

Course History

Patrick Cantlay has appeared at The Masters seven times in the past, posting a scoring average of 72.38 in his 24 rounds played. He has made the cut in four of his previous five appearances at the course, and he would have likely finished much higher than 14th, perhaps even posting a career-high finish in the event, if not for a final-round 75 to tumble down the leaderboard.

Recent Form

The 32-year-old former UCLA standout has made the cut in each of his seven events on the 2024 PGA Tour schedule, although he was really only a threat at The Genesis Invitational, finishing T4. In his most recent showing at THE PLAYERS Championship, Cantlay was a dismal 68th and has finished over par in his past two outings. He doesn’t head into Augusta on much of a roll.

Betting Outlook

Cantlay has some long odds, but they might be a little longer if not for his big name and lofty world ranking. You can get better value elsewhere, especially on golfers entering this event with a lot more momentum. In addition, he was forced to pull out of the Valspar Championship in mid-March due to an undisclosed injury, so that’s also a concern.
