2024 Masters Odds, Picks & Predictions: Tom Kim

It’s Masters week, which means we’ll once again have the pleasure of watching the best golfers in the world take on the greatest golf course in the world, Augusta National.

Augusta is golf paradise, a stunning, immaculately groomed beauty that’s home to some of the most iconic holes on the planet, including the par-3 12th and the par-5 13th. No other course tests a player’s course-management skills and short game quite like Augusta.

This year’s tournament has no shortage of compelling story lines. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is trying to extend his recent run of dominance and win his second Green Jacket. Young stars such as Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay are hoping to break through and win at Augusta for the first time. The stars of the LIV Tour — including defending champion Jon Rahm and past champs Dustin Johnson and Patrick Reed — will once again compete with their PGA Tour counterparts.

Welcome to the third annual BettingPros Guide to The Masters. We’re going to examine the many wagering opportunities this tournament presents, taking a closer look at the golfers with the best chances of earning the coveted Green Jacket. Which players provide betting value and which are bad bets? Sit back and read on.

Course History

Tom Kim made his debut at Augusta in 2023, but it’s what he did off the course that drew the most attention (and quite a few laughs). Golf fans around the world who tuned into the Netflix original series “Full Swing” were treated to an episode about Kim, and in one of the more hilarious moments of season two, he found himself in search of something to eat. But Kim wandered into the champions locker room and knew immediately he wasn’t supposed to be there. Not yet anyway.

Recent Form

Hindered by an identified illness that put him out of contention at the 2023 PLAYERS Championship, Kim nevertheless has had an above-average season thus far. Kim reached his highest Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) of 11th in October 2023. After missing the cut at the American Express in January, Kim finished T31, T17 and T24 in his next three events. The big question is whether Kim is healthy and dialed in with his overall game.

Betting Outlook

I can’t help but think of this year’s Masters as a chance for Kim to redeem himself for his hilarious gaffe in “Full Swing.” While he was eventually able to find himself that pimento cheese sandwich, he now clearly knows his way around the grounds at Augusta National Golf Club. For that, I envision a solid finish similar to his T16 from 2023.
