2024 NBA All-Star Game: Best MVP Odds & Picks

Who is ready for the NBA All-Star Game coming up this weekend?

The NBA changed up the rules for the All-Star Game and went back to an Eastern Conference-Western Conference format, allowing us to know exactly who is on what team weeks in advance.

Since 2018, the NBA has used a draft format and a points target score to conclude games. However, we will get a full four-quarter basketball game between the two conferences this year.

After each game, an MVP is announced for the player who performs at the highest level on the winning team. Last year, Jayson Tatum won the award. In the year prior, it was Steph Curry.

Other players in the game with NBA All-Star Game MVPs include Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kawhi Leonard, Kevin Durant, LeBron James, and Anthony Davis. Only 14 players have won the award multiple times.

Who will win the MVP in this year’s showdown?

Luka Doncic

This is Luka Doncic’s time to shine. He’s leading the league in scoring with 34.3 points per game. He’s also shooting 49.1% from the field and is a terrific rebounder and passer. He can do it all on the court.

Doncic is making his fifth All-Star Game appearance this year. At times, he’s taken a backseat to other players. However, he’s already playing with Nikola Jokic, who rarely shoots in the All-Star Game. He’s also playing with LeBron James and Kevin Durant, two players who have been playing in this game for over a decade.

With Doncic on the floor without Steph Curry, Devin Booker, and Anthony Edwards for most of the game, it feels like this is Doncic’s time to shine.

I’ve got the Western Conference winning this game because the Eastern Conference has two significant injuries, including Joel Embiid and Julius Randle. The Eastern Conference also has four players making their All-Star debuts this year.

Therefore, Luka Doncic at +1900 is an interesting one. Doncic needs to be a little more aggressive early if he wants it.

Bet: Luka Doncic (+1900)

Anthony Edwards

In the 2023 FIBA World Cup, Anthony Edwards led Team USA with 18.9 points. He’s ready to take that next step as one of the best players in the NBA.

He’s certainly not afraid of the spotlight and doesn’t mind being the lead guy.

Edwards is coming off the bench, which isn’t ideal. However, he added 12 points in his first game last year after he added some rebounds that led to some easy fastbreak buckets.

There were moments when he cut and moments when he trailed on a fastbreak, looking for the ball to score. A couple of highlight dunks certainly won’t hurt his chances, either.

Again, I’m expecting a Western Conference win. If the West wins, the MVP will be out of the West. Edwards is an exciting pick despite coming off the bench.

Bet: Anthony Edwards (+1000)
