2024 NBA All-Star Game Slam Dunk Contest Odds & Picks

The NBA All-Star Slam Dunk Contest contestants have been released.

Mac McClung will look to earn his second consecutive trophy, going up against Jacob Toppin, Jaylen Brown and Jaime Jaquez Jr.

McClung is currently playing on the Orlando Magic’s G-League team and will look to defend his title. In the year prior, Obi Toppin won the Slam Dunk Contest. Now, his brother, with the Knicks, will look to earn his own Slam Dunk Contest trophy.

Finally, we’ve got Jaylen Brown, the highest-paid player in the NBA, joining the event along with Miami guard Jaime Jaquez, who many know from his days with UCLA in college. Jaquez Jr. has been a critical piece for the Heat this season.

But none of that truly matters. What matters is how good the dunks are in this year’s contest. Can McClung hang on for his second straight trophy, or will one of the other three competitors get the win?

Mac McClung

It’s no secret that McClung is favored in this four-man contest.

McClung won the competition last year after earning multiple 50s. However, the competition wasn’t so high last year. McClung put on a show and didn’t have a single dunk that wasn’t a 50.

You’d like to think he’ll put more effort into this contest than a player like Jaylen Brown, who is likely just doing this for fun. McClung could likely use the sponsors and the income from this contest. Brown doesn’t need any of that.

I thought McClung was more original than we’ve seen in the past. In his first dunk last year, he jumped over two people on top of each other. In the next dunk, he did a kick-it, twist-it, 360-dunk.

Then, with his third dunk, McClung grabbed the ball on top of a person’s head, double-clutched it, put it between his legs and then slammed it down behind his head.

By his fourth dunk, it was basically over when McClung had another spectacular dunk. McClung added three 50s in four attempts.

Even the commentators admitted that he saved the dunk contest. So whatever he has in store is probably super original and fun.

Bet: Mac McClung (-170)

Jacob Toppin

If Jacob Toppin has his brother helping, he should give McClung a run for his money.

As mentioned, his brother, Obi Toppin, won the Dunk Contest in 2022 as a member of the Knicks. He is now with the Pacers, but he’ll likely be a part of the dunk contest in some way with All-Star Weekend being held in Indiana.

Jacob Toppin mostly plays for the Westchester Knicks and not the New York Knicks. However, he scored his first two points with New York not too long ago.

He’s got a highlight reel from his G-League games with crazy dunks that you should check out when you get the chance. Jacob Toppin did a 360 dunk on a fastbreak and had many moments where he just threw the hammer down on open dunks in games.

The Toppins have ridiculous verticals and athleticism. While many didn’t enjoy the 2022 Dunk Contest, Obi Toppin saved it with some exciting dunks. Therefore, his brother, Jacob Toppin, is still my second-favorite to win this year’s contest.

Bet: Jacob Toppin (+325)
