2024 PGA Championship Odds & Picks: Justin Thomas

Golf’s biggest stars descend on Louisville, Kentucky, this week for the second major of the year, the 2024 PGA Championship, which will be played at Valhalla Golf Club.

This will be the fourth PGA Championship to be played at Valhalla, a Jack Nicklaus-designed course that opened in 1986. Mark Brooks won the first PGA at Valhalla in 1996. Tiger Woods outlasted Bob May in a memorable Valhalla duel to win the 2000 PGA Championship. And Rory McIlroy won the PGA here in 2014, edging Phil Mickelson by a stroke.

Brooks Koepka is the defending PGA Championship winner. He won by two strokes over Viktor Hovland and Scottie Scheffler last year at Oak Hill. But Scheffler is the headliner this week. The No. 1 player in the world has been on fire this year, winning four of his last five events. Last month, Scheffler won the first major of 2024, The Masters, earning his second Green Jacket.

Now the Louisville native returns home seeking to capture his third career major. With PGA victories at Southern Hills Country Club and Quail Hollow Club, Thomas has the game to contend this week. Which Justin Thomas shows up is the question.

Justin Thomas Recent Form

The University of Alabama alum has three missed cuts and three top-10 finishes in nine starts this season, with two of those missed cuts coming in his last four tournaments. To add to the confusion, Thomas posted a T5 his last time out at the RBC Heritage.

Justin Thomas 2024 PGA Championship Betting Outlook

Back Thomas at your own risk. I can see him missing the weekend, but I could just as easily see him in one of the final groups on Sunday. I can’t recommend anything other than a dart throw at an outright win here.
