2024 PGA Championship Odds & Picks: Matthew Fitzpatrick

Golf's biggest stars descend on Louisville, Kentucky, this week for the second major of the year, the 2024 PGA Championship, which will be played at Valhalla Golf Club.

This will be the fourth PGA Championship to be played at Valhalla, a Jack Nicklaus-designed course that opened in 1986. Mark Brooks won the first PGA at Valhalla in 1996. Tiger Woods outlasted Bob May in a memorable Valhalla duel to win the 2000 PGA Championship. And Rory McIlroy won the PGA here in 2014, edging Phil Mickelson by a stroke.

Brooks Koepka is the defending PGA Championship winner. He won by two strokes over Viktor Hovland and Scottie Scheffler last year at Oak Hill. But Scheffler is the headliner this week. The No. 1 player in the world has been on fire this year, winning four of his last five events. Last month, Scheffler won the first major of 2024, The Masters, earning his second Green Jacket.

He hasn’t appeared in a PGA Tour event at Valhalla, however. Fitzpatrick has missed the cut in four of his past seven appearances in the PGA Championship. He is a true feast-or-famine player in this major.

Matthew Fitzpatrick Recent Form

Fitzpatrick has made the cut in five straight events since missing the cut at the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill. That includes a fifth-place showing at THE PLAYERS Championship, as well as a T10 at the Valero Texas Open. While he tumbled down the leaderboard at Quail Hollow over the weekend, he has been on quite the roll.

Matthew Fitzpatrick 2024 PGA Championship Betting Outlook

Fitzpatrick is a player who has been around, but he hasn’t made a ton of noise in the PGA Championship. He is strong from the tee box, but he is just so-so with the putter, and he ranks 99th on the PGA Tour in strokes gained: approach to the green. You can do better elsewhere.
