2024 Presidents Cup Best Bets, Picks & Predictions

The Presidents Cup gives the best golfers in the world outside of Europe their shot at the best from the United States every other year. The International team will be considered the “home team” this year, looking to win the cup for the first time since 1998. The United States has dominated this event, winning nine straight and 12 out of 14 competitions overall. While this event won’t feature Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm or Ludvig Aberg, there is plenty of star power on both teams. It also gives us a chance to get back into the golf market after the FedEx Cup playoffs last month.

Thursday’s opening matches are traditional four-ball matches. That means all the players will be playing their own ball at Royal Montreal Golf Club in Canada. There are five matches on the slate that will feature some veterans on both sides, as well as a couple of rookies. The Par-70, 7,413-yard course is relatively benign with barely any elevation changes and wide fairways. There should be a lot of birdie opportunities for all the players. Let’s get to the picks.

2024 Presidents Cup Picks & Predictions

(Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)

Scottie Scheffler/Russell Henley vs. Sungjae Im/Tom Kim

Russell Henley should be thanking team captain Jim Furyk for pairing him with the world’s best golfer. Henley is no slouch himself. The Georgia native finished T-4 in the season-ending Tour Championship and enjoyed one of the best seasons of his career. While Sunjae Im is one of the more consistent golfers on tour, and phenom Tom Kim can catch lightning in a bottle, the pairing of Scottie Scheffler and Henley should prove to be too much for the international pair.

Pick: Scheffler/Henley (-120)

Xander Schauffele/Tony Finau vs. Jason Day/Byeong Hun An

If not for Scheffler’s ridiculous year, now two-time major champion Xander Schauffele would have run away with PGA Tour Player of the Year honors. He is paired with Tony Finau, who finished 23rd in the Tour Championship and also had a tremendous season. Jason Day will be making his fifth appearance in this competition, but his first since 2017. Ironically, he was picked for the 2019 team but had to withdraw due to injury and was replaced on the team with An.

Pick: Schauffele/Finau (-145)

Collin Morikawa/Sahith Theegala vs. Adam Scott/Min Woo Lee

This match features a pair of rookies on their respective teams in Sahith Theegala and Min Woo Lee. This matchup may be the best chance for the international team to pick up a full point. The 44-year-old Scott is a seasoned pro who finished T-4 at the Tour Championship and is perfectly suited for international match play competition. Fellow Australian Min Woo Lee has yet to live up to his high expectations but playing alongside Scott could bring out the best in Lee.

Pick: Scott/Lee (+155)
