2024 RBC Heritage: Odds, Picks & Predictions

I won’t swoon. Despite missing on yet another Scottie Scheffler runaway victory, the process led us to placement bet wins on Cameron Smith (top-10) and Matthieu Pavon (top-20). It wasn’t the windfall anyone was hoping for, but another week on the PGA Tour presents a new and exciting opportunity to bludgeon the casinos.

Meredith Scheffler is another week pregnant, so Scottie watch has reached a fever pitch heading into the RBC Heritage. Depending on your risk tolerance, you might opt for another Scheffler outright wager at a measly +400. In the event he finishes 72 holes before his first child arrives, the world’s best golfer will inevitably contend for another elevated jackpot and a plaid tartan jacket to go with his second green one. What if he is called on home, though?

2024 RBC Heritage: Odds, Picks & Predictions

(Odds Courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)

Harbour Town Golf Links is an adorable seaside Pete Dye contraption. At a hair under 7,200 yards, ocean breezes and Dye’s diabolical mind games are the only things protecting these tiny Bermuda greens from a barrage of scoring from 69 of the world’s best golfers. The entire golf bag must be sharp, hell-bent on accuracy and precision from tee to green. Meredith’s advanced state of childbearing is undoubtedly baked into Scottie’s odds, along with many of the other highly-rated golfers in the field. Subsequently, I will be betting conservatively at the RBC Heritage to limit exposure to truly horrendous odds at the top. With a blinding lighthouse beam cutting through the Atlantic fog, let’s tee off.

Collin Morikawa

I like all of the golfers at the top of the betting odds, but not enough to take a stab at them. Xander Schauffele and Tommy Fleetwood seem allergic to winning, and Rory McIlroy’s recent form definitely doesn’t suit Harbour Town. Ludvig Åberg is an absolute stud and the future of professional golf, but I can’t bet him to win in good conscience at ridiculously short odds. Collin Morikawa was one bad iron shot from putting a bunch of pressure on Scottie at Augusta National last week and looked to be dialed in with his usual stellar ball-striking. I’ll take the disrespect discount on a two-time Major winner.

Picks: Outright +1800 [1u]; Top-5 +400 [1u]

Russell Henley

Death, taxes and Russell Henley on Bermuda with an emphasis on accuracy. Henley is a marvelous fit for Harbour Town and has had a strong 2024 season to date. His winning ways are bound to return very soon. While his short game hasn’t been as outstanding as in previous years, Henley’s game from tee to green is exactly the formula to take down this event.

Picks: Outright +4000 [0.5u]; Top-10 +330 [0.5u]

Sungjae Im

The young Korean has struggled mightily in 2024. He is still among the most accurate players in the world and has excelled on Pete Dye courses since he turned pro. Sungjae Im can use the RBC Heritage to right the ship and get back into a groove. His betting odds have slipped well beyond the realm of reasonable, and it’s time to pounce and bet on his incredible talent.

Picks: Outright +6000 [0.5u]; Top-10 +500 [0.5u]

Matthieu Pavon

Pavon’s ability to play with intelligence was on full display last week at The Masters. He is very consistent and keeps his emotions on an even keel. These are all desirable traits on Pete Dye courses. After grinding it out for 72 holes at Augusta National, Harbour Town will seem like a vacation. Pavon from Torrey Pines is on the verge of reemerging now that the steam has been released from his betting odds.

Picks: Outright +7000 [0.5u]; Top-20 +200 [0.5u]

Deep Shots: Justin Rose & Chandler Phillips

Surprising to no one, Justin Rose shot to the top of my weighted stat model the moment I filtered for Pete Dye designs. He is a cerebral golfer who is among the most consistent performers on Tour. To get a 150-1 line on him is literally stealing. So is a top-20 bet at +330. As for Chandler Phillips, the happy-go-lucky Texan is a creative type who gets around with straight tee shots and a crafty short game. I have certainly blown five bucks on worse golfers with 300-1 odds. He is also +550 to finish in the top 20 and +115 to crack the top 40. Wager accordingly, and good luck.
