2024 Tour Championship Odds & Picks: Russell Henley

The PGA Tour season comes to an end this week with the Tour Championship at the East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta.

It's the final event of the three-event FedEx Cup Playoffs. At stake: the honor of being the FedEx Cup champion and a whole lot of money. The winner of the Tour Championship receives $25 million and a five-year PGA Tour exemption. Second place is worth $12.5 million. Every player in the 30-man field will earn at least $550,000.

The Tour Championship uses a unique "starting strokes" system that rewards players based on the number of FedEx Cup points accumulated so far this season. FedEx Cup points leader Scottie Scheffler will start at -10. No. 2 player Xander Schauffele starts at -8, No. 3 Hideki Matsuyama starts at -7, No. 4 Keegan Bradley starts at -6, and No. 5 Ludvig Aberg starts at -5. The rest of the field is sorted into groups of five, with groups starting at -4, -3, -2, -1 and even par. Bear in mind that betting odds for the Tour Championship take the starting strokes system into account.

Let's take a closer look at our top 2024 Tour Championship odds and picks for Russell Henley.

Russell Henley Tour Championship Course History

Russell Henley has only competed in the Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club three times throughout his time on the PGA Tour. They've been spread out throughout his long career, spanning from 2014 to 2023. His best outing came back in 2017, where he placed third with a score of -10 (67-71-67-65). Henley inherits a starting score of -2, which means he's in a five-way tie for 16th place out of the gate.

Russell Henley Recent Form

In my opinion, Henley has flown under the radar this year. While the American doesn't have any outright victories, he does have four top-five finishes sprinkled in throughout the season. Most notably, he logged a fifth-place finish at The Open back in July. Henley also hasn't missed a cut since March at The Players Championship, so he's been competitive but certainly not overpowering.

Russell Henley 2024 Tour Championship Betting Outlook

Whether it's the outright winner or any of the top-10 or top-five markets, I just don't see much value in playing Russell Henley this weekend. He lacks experience at East Lake and isn't in a favorable starting position (16th) to make up ground. There are just too many talented golfers ahead of Henley on the scoreboard, so I'm not looking to take a financial stake in him this weekend.
