2024 Tour Championship Odds & Picks: Shane Lowry

The PGA Tour season comes to an end this week with the Tour Championship at the East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta.

It's the final event of the three-event FedEx Cup Playoffs. At stake: the honor of being the FedEx Cup champion and a whole lot of money. The winner of the Tour Championship receives $25 million and a five-year PGA Tour exemption. Second place is worth $12.5 million. Every player in the 30-man field will earn at least $550,000.

The Tour Championship uses a unique "starting strokes" system that rewards players based on the number of FedEx Cup points accumulated so far this season. FedEx Cup points leader Scottie Scheffler will start at -10. No. 2 player Xander Schauffele starts at -8, No. 3 Hideki Matsuyama starts at -7, No. 4 Keegan Bradley starts at -6, and No. 5 Ludvig Aberg starts at -5. The rest of the field is sorted into groups of five, with groups starting at -4, -3, -2, -1 and even par. Bear in mind that betting odds for the Tour Championship take the starting strokes system into account.

Let's take a closer look at our top 2024 Tour Championship odds and picks for Shane Lowry.

Shane Lowry Tour Championship Course History

Shane Lowry is one of nine newcomers to East Lake. The 37-year-old has made it to the BMW Championship four previous times, but this is his first time finishing in the top 30 of the FedEx Cup Playoffs, earning his ticket to Tour Championship.

Shane Lowry Recent Form

Lowry missed the cut at the Wyndham Championship, the final event of the PGA Tour regular season. In the last two weeks, the Ireland native has improved his finishing position but statistically has remained in the middle of the pack. A week ago, Lowry struggled off the tee but was able to scramble around the greens to avoid bogeys, resulting in a top-15 finish. He’ll need to work on improving his driving accuracy (59% last week) if he is going to contend over the weekend.

Shane Lowry 2024 Tour Championship Betting Outlook

Lowry will start seven shots behind Scottie Scheffler, which means he’ll have a tough time getting to the top of the leaderboard. This being his first appearance at East Lake, Lowry isn’t the first golfer that comes to mind if you’re looking to back a long shot. While he’s certainly capable of pulling it off, Lowry is not someone who will be on my card, and he shouldn’t be on yours either.
