2025 Australian Open Picks & Predictions: Men’s Best Bets

Grand Slam season in tennis officially gets underway in 2025 this weekend as the world’s best players compete in the Australian Open.

As usual, there is plenty of intrigue surrounding the first major of the year, especially on the men’s side, as Novak Djokovic looks yet again for a record-breaking 25th Grand Slam title. Djokovic already holds the record for most Australian Open titles (10) and is looking to break the tie of 24 Grand Slam titles for most of all-time for any man or woman in history.

Will Djokovic make history “down under” this week? Or will one of the younger favorites continue the youth movement in the men’s draw?

Read on for our top three picks for the 2025 Men’s Australian Open winner.

Top 2025 Australian Open Winners Picks: Men

Jannik Sinner (+150)

Jannik Sinner will be an interesting player to follow in 2025, as the appeals of his previous doping allegations and failed drug tests from last year have him facing a possible suspension, even though he was previously cleared of any wrongdoing.

If Sinner can block out that noise until the process is concluded, there is no doubt he is the most talented player on this surface in the field.

Sinner only lost one set before his epic five-set battle against Daniil Medvedev last year, where he captured his first Major title at the Australian Open. In his toughest match before that against 10-time winner Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals, Sinner did not even face a single break point.

Sinner won two Grand Slams last year (his US Open title was also on hard court), and he reached at least the semi-final at all of the Majors except Wimbledon in 2024.

The world No. 1 rounded out his terrific season with ATP titles at five other events, three of which came from ATP Masters 1000 events. Sinner went 73-6 as a whole last year and was integral in leading Italy to its second straight Davis Cup title. His ascent may only be beginning and the gap between him and the No. 2-ranked player in the world rankings points system may continue to widen.

Daniil Medvedev (+1500)

Daniil Medvedev is one of the best hard-court tennis players in the world. He won the US Open in 2021 and has two other finals appearances at that Grand Slam in the last six years. But if I am going to oppose Sinner with any player atop the leaderboard, it is Medvedev, who has made the finals of the Australian Open in three of the last four years.

Should Medvedev meet Sinner along the way this year (they would meet in the semi-finals), he can draw on the fact he has beaten Sinner seven times in 15 meetings since 2020.

Medvedev would arguably be higher on this odds list on his prior success at this Grand Slam alone, but he is likely fifth on the odds list because he just recently welcomed his second child into the world. If Medvedev can get the proper rest and prepare for this tournament like he has every year this decade, he is a great player to add for value at +1500 odds.

Taylor Fritz (+5000)

When looking for a longshot play to take home the Australian Open, the best value of any player lower than Medvedev on the odds leaderboard is American Taylor Fritz.

Fritz is looking to build off the momentum of reaching his first Grand Slam final at the US Open last year. He also finished as the runner-up at the ATP Finals, won two other lower-level titles, won bronze at the Olympics in doubles and was integral in sealing the United Cup victory for the United States last week.

In that United Cup run, Fritz got invaluable experience playing against big servers, especially in the final, when he outlasted Hubert Hurkacz in three sets.

Fritz finished last year with a career-high ranking of No. 4 and earned 295 ranking points through the United Cup run when no other player earned 100. This is a great hedge against a Medvedev bet with them being in the same quarter.

DraftKings Sportsbook does have a futures prop of +1600 odds for any American to win the tournament, in case you want more exposure to other Americans at great value.
