It’s almost Masters week, arguably the best week of the year for fans of professional golf. The Masters is a rite of spring and the unofficial start of golf season in America.
The best players in the game will take on what many regard as the best and most gorgeous golf course in the world, Augusta National. But Augusta is a treacherous beauty that challenges players with lightning-fast greens, severe elevation changes, narrow passages between trees, and scorecard-wrecking water hazards and bunkers.
Can the No. 1 player in the world, Scottie Scheffler, win his third Green Jacket in four years? Is this finally Rory McIlroy's year? Or will a young star such as Ludvig Aberg or Collin Morikawa prevail at Augusta. And let's not forget about the LIV Tour players. Jon Rahm, Patrick Reed and Sergio Garcia are among the LIV players who have won The Masters before. Maybe it's Bryson DeChambeau's turn this year.
There are 96 entrants in the 2025 Masters. Here's a ranking of the field from top to bottom.
2025 Masters Full-Field Rankings
1. Scottie Scheffler - The No. 1 player in the world has won the Green Jacket two of the last three years. Scottie is the man to beat.
2. Rory McIlroy - His confidence should be high after a win at the Players Championship. Can he finally erase memories of his 2011 Masters meltdown?
3. Ludvig Aberg - Young Swedish star finished second last year in his Masters debut and seemed undaunted by Sunday pressure.
4. Jon Rahm - The 2023 champ has finished top six in his last four LIV Tour events. The big Spaniard's game is well suited for Augusta.
5. Collin Morikawa - Pinpoint ballstriker is in good form and has finished fifth, 10th and third in his last three Masters.
6. Xander Schauffele - He's contended here before but has yet to get into a groove after a rib injury shelved him early in the year.
7. Brooks Koepka - Two-time Masters runner-up usually brings his A-game to the majors.
8. Bryson DeChambeau - Hadn't shown much aptitude for Augusta before finishing sixth last year. His length could help him overpower the par-5s.
9. Hideki Matsuyama - Recent form has been so-so, but the 2021 champ is capable of going low here.
10. Jordan Spieth - Won by four strokes in 2015. Should have won in 2016 but imploded at the par-3 12th. Loves the course, but recent form has been spotty.
11. Will Zalatoris - Gifted ballstriker has finished top 10 in all three of his Masters appearances. Looks like a value at his current odds.
12. Russell Henley - Georgia native is having a good year. Henley finished fourth at the 2023 Masters and has two other top 15s.
13. Patrick Reed - His stellar short game plays up at Augusta. Since donning the Green Jacket in 2017, Reed has finished top 10 in three of his last six trips.
14. Justin Thomas - J.T. has played well this year, but he's missed the cut in his last two trips. Seems to have a complicated relationship with Augusta.
15. Cameron Smith - An interesting case. Hasn't fared well on the LIV Tour lately but has five top 10s at Augusta in the last seven years. His short game is superb.
16. Viktor Hovland - Broke out of a slump with his recent win at the Valspar, but Hovland's short game might not be sharp enough for him to win at Augusta.
17. Joaquin Niemann - He's been red-hot on the LIV Tour, winning two of his last three tourneys, but Niemann has been chronically quiet in majors.
18. Patrick Cantlay - Too talented to be counted out, but checkered Masters history and inconsistent form suggest he's a long shot.
19. Tommy Fleetwood - Playing well in 2025 and finished third here last year. But "Fairway Jesus" doesn't win very often, and winning at Augusta is a tall order.
20. Shane Lowry - Recent form has been solid. Hasn't exactly been electric at Augusta, although he finished third in 2022.
21. Corey Conners - Precision ballstriker has three top 10s at Augusta, but can he putt well enough to win?
22. Min Woo Lee - "The Chef" just cooked up his first PGA Tour win in Houston. Big hitter has finished top 25 in two of his three Masters appearances.
23. Robert MacIntyre - The Scot is consistent, but his putter has been balky this season, and it's tough to win at Augusta if you aren't putting well.
24. Sergio Garcia - Since winning here in 2017, he's missed the cut in five of his last six Masters. But a LIV win in Hong Kong last month suggests he's not done.
25. Sepp Straka - Precision iron play has made this a banner season for the big Austrian. Don't rule him out.
26. Akshay Bhatia - Has finished top 10 in three of his last four events, but his Masters experience is minimal. Finished 35th last year in his debut.
27. Daniel Berger - Has six top-25 finishes this season and has played well in almost every phase of the game. Best Masters finish was 10th in 2016.
28. Sungjae Im - He's had some good showings here, including a second in his 2020 debut, but he's played poorly the last two months.
29. Tony Finau - Hasn't been sharp this season. Mediocre wedge play and putting have been the culprits, and those are key components at Augusta.
30. Tom Kim - Brash youngster hasn't been sharp this season but has been solid in his first two Masters appearances, finishing 16th and 30th.
31. Keegan Bradley - U.S. Ryder Cup captain has played well this season but has never made serious noise at Augusta.
32. Tyrell Hatton - Fiery Englishman hasn't been in great form and hasn't seriously contended at The Masters.
33. Jason Day - Hasn't factored at Augusta since finishing fifth in 2019. Seems unlikely to contend despite strong pedigree.
34. Denny McCarthy - Putting is always critical at Augusta, and McCarthy can really roll the rock.
35. Wyndham Clark - Missed the cut last year in his Masters debut. Coming off a fifth-place finish in Houston, but it's been a choppy season.
36. Justin Rose - This will be the 20th Masters appearance for the two-time runner-up. A third at Pebble Beach and an eighth at Bay Hill this season say he's still dangerous.
37. Lucas Glover - Has finished top 10 in his last two events and ranks inside the top 20 in strokes gained: total. Finished 20th here last year.
38. Byeong Hun An - Finished 16th here last year, but his oft-clunky putting could be a problem.
39. Dustin Johnson - Won the autumn Masters in 2020, but his game has gone sideways in recent years.
40. J. Spaun - Has a pair of second-place finishes this season. Finished 23rd in his 2022 Masters debut. One of the better ballstrikers on the tour.
41. Aaron Rai - The steady Englishman is making his Masters debut. Rai has never finished better than 19th in any major.
42. Matt Fitzpatrick - He isn't having a strong season, but Fitz has been consistently solid at Augusta.
43. Michael Kim - Augusta debutant is enjoying a fine season. He's a great follow on social media; it will be fun to get his thoughts on the Masters experience.
44. Maverick McNealy - His form hasn't been tip-top of late, but Mav has all sorts of game. May need seasoning before he's ready to contend.
45. Stephan Jaeger - A big hitter who's improved his putting this season, Jaeger could make noise after missing the cut last year.
46. Thomas Detry - A win in Phoenix showed what the Belgian is capable of, but recent form has been poor, casting doubt on his first trip up Magnolia Lane.
47. Sam Burns - Recent form has been poor, and he's missed the cut in two of his three trips to Augusta.
48. Sahith Theegala - After a banner 2024 season, 2025 has been a letdown. Theegala's iron play has been lacking.
49. Adam Scott - The 2013 champ has struggled with his putter lately. He's still looking for his first top 20 of the season.
50. Harris English - A grinder who's at his best on tough courses, English has three top 10s at the U.S. Open over the last five years and finished 22nd here last year.
51. Tom Hoge - One of the better iron players, Hoge finished third at the Players Championship last month and could fare well this week if his putter cooperates.
52. Taylor Pendrith - The streaky Pendrith will need his putter to heat up if he wants to have a memorable Masters debut.
53. Billy Horschel - Billy Ho normally plays the tough courses well, but he's cracked the top 40 only once in his last six trips to Augusta.
54. Nicolai Hojgaard - Held the lead on Saturday last year in his first Masters appearance before finishing 16th. Has missed the cut in his last three events.
55. Phil Mickelson - Lefty knows his way around Augusta. Could he win again? His second-place finish two years ago suggests it's not out of the question.
56. Chris Kirk - It's been an unremarkable season for Kirk, but he's played well at Augusta of late, finishing 23rd in 2023 and 16th in 2024.
57. Christian Bezuidenhout - Short-game specialist has made the cut in each of his three previous Masters.
58. J.T. Poston - The steady Poston is a good bet to make the cut but not a great bet to contend.
59. Cameron Young - He's finished top 10 in each of the last two Masters, but his recent form has been abysmal.
60. Brian Harman - The deliberate, short-hitting Harman hasn't had much luck at Augusta lately, missing the cut his last three trips.
61. Davis Thompson - Georgia native is making his Masters debut. There's little in his profile to suggest that it will be a splashy one.
62. Laurie Canter - Englishman hasn't played in the Masters before but was top 25 in each of the last two British Opens.
63. Rasmus Hojgaard - The Dane has been up and down on his first season on the PGA Tour, but mostly down lately. Not much momentum for his first Masters.
64. Joe Highsmith - Earned his way into his first Masters by Winning the Cognizant Classic in late February. He's putted well this season.
65. Max Greyserman - First-timer has missed the cut in his last two PGA Tour events, and his recent scrambling deficiencies cast doubt on his chances.
66. Nico Echavarria - The Colombian leads the Tour in strokes gained: putting, which should help him navigate Augusta treacherous greens.
67. Thriston Lawrence - The South African will be making his Masters debut. He finished fourth at the British Open last year.
68. Charl Schwartzel - He's had two top 10s at the Masters oner the last eight years, but Schwartzel hasn't finished top 10 in any LIV event this year.
69. Danny Willett - Capitalized on Jordan Spieth's slip-up to win the Green Jacket in 2016. Hasn't played particularly well this year.
70. Davis Riley - Mississippi native got off to a terrible start this year but has gained steam, finishing top 10 in two of his last four tourneys.
71. Nick Taylor - Missed the cut last year in his first Masters appearance and has missed the cut in each of his last two Tour events.
72. Cam Davis - Davis opened with a 69 last year and finished 12th, but he's missed the cut in his last four events.
73. Kevin Yu - He's finished top 20 in each of his last two events, but poor putting will be a problem for Yu at Augusta.
74. Max Homa - Finished third here last year, but his game has completely abandoned him in 2025.
75. Austin Eckroat - Eckroat hasn't cracked the top 25 in a tournament since Pebble Beach in February, and he missed the cut here last year.
76. Matt McCarty - Punched his Masters ticket by winning the Black Desert Championship last fall but hasn't found his footing in 2025.
77. Nick Dunlap - The 21-year-old Dunlap has struggled over the last month, missing the cut in three straight events and shooting a couple of 80s.
78. Jhonattan Vegas - The streaky Vegas has been mostly cold this season, finishing 40th or worse in all seven events he's played.
79. Matthieu Pavon - The Frenchman finished 12th last year in his Masters debut but hasn't cracked the top 40 in any tournament this season.
80. Adam Schenk - Recent form has been poor, but Schenk finished 12th last year in his maiden voyage here.
81. Bubba Watson - Won here in 2012 and 2014, but he's missed the cut in each of the last two years and has been a nonfactor on the LIV Tour lately.
82. Zach Johnson - The 2007 Masters champ still competes on Tour but doesn't find his way onto many leaderboards these days.
83. Brian Campbell - Since earning his way into the field with a win in Mexico, Campbell has missed the cut in three of four events. Lack of distance will hurt him.
84. Rafael Campos - Got his first PGA Tour win in Bermuda last year, but his 2025 season has not been fruitful, with seven missed cuts in nine events.
85. Patton Kizzire - Qualified by winning the Procore Championship last September. Hasn't made a cut in seven 2025 events.
86. Jose Luis Ballester - The 21-year-old Spaniard won the U.S. Amateur last year.
87. Noah Kent - Qualified by finishing runner-up at the U.S. Amateur last year.
88. Evan Beck - Won the U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship by thrashing his opponent in match play 9&8. Scottie Scheffler won't be as easy to take down.
89. Vijay Singh - The 2000 champion made the cut last year at age 60, finishing 58th.
90. Bernhard Langer - Made the cut here in 2020 at age 62. He's 67 now, but Langer is aging gracefully and won't embarrass himself.
91. Hiroshi Tai - The first player from Singapore to event compete in the Masters. Tai won the 2024 NCAA Men's Championship.
92. Fred Couples - The smooth-swinging Couples made the cut two years ago at age 63 and has always been great at navigating Augusta.
93. Angel Cabrera - The 2009 champ still competes on the PGA Tour Americas.
94. Justin Hastings - The second Cayman Islands native to play in the Masters, Hastings qualified by winning the Latin American Amateur Championship.
95. Mike Weir - The 2003 champ is playing in his 26th Masters but hasn't made the cut since 2020.
96. Jose Maria Olazabal - Won two Green Jackets in the 1990s on the strength of a masterful short game.
