Rory McIlroy will look to hold off Bryson DeChambeau on Sunday to close out the 89th edition of the Masters. The stakes are high and DeChambeau’s late rally to beat McIlroy at the U.S. Open last June looms large.
Will McIlroy finally complete his career grand slam by winning the final major at Augusta National? Or will DeChambeau take advantage of potential McIlroy miscues and erase his two-stroke deficit to win his first green jacket?
My Masters Best Head-to-Head Bets (Round 3) went 2-0. Viktor Hovland beat Tyrrell Hatton by two strokes to cash as an underdog at -105 odds, while Rory McIlroy dominated Scottie Scheffler despite being a marginal underdog at plus odds.
Here are my final two head-to-head bets to place ahead of Round 4 at the 2025 Masters. Follow me on X at Matt_MacKay_ for more free bets and weekly PGA Tour analysis.

Rory McIlroy vs. Bryson DeChambeau – 2 Ball – Round 4
There’s a strong inclination to back DeChambeau based on McIlroy’s meltdown late at Pinehurst No. 2 during the 2024 U.S. Open. However, I’ve really liked McIlroy’s game at Augusta National through three rounds.
A pair of double bogeys during the final stretch to close out Round 1 could’ve easily frustrated McIlroy and led to mediocre play for the rest of the tournament. Instead, it seemingly fueled Northern Ireland’s star golfer, as he carded back-to-back rounds of 6-under-par on Friday and Saturday. Now, he carries a two-stroke lead over DeChambeau, who he’ll compete against in the final group on Sunday afternoon.
McIlroy is hitting greens at 69 percent and fairways at 64 percent. Yet it’s his putting that has been superb, dropping to 1.31 putts per hole in Round 3 after going 1.61 and 1.56 in this metric during Round 1 and Round 2.
DeChambeau chipped in for birdie on the 18th hole on Saturday to gain a ton of confidence and momentum heading into Round 4. However, I’m not going to panic and fade McIlroy due to the outcome between this duo at a different major 10 months ago.
DeChambeau has hit 59 percent of greens and 79 percent of fairways. He’s been forced to make more up and downs via scrambling and it could get him into trouble against McIlroy on Sunday. He’s been solid with the flat stick though, logging 1.33 putts per hole in Round 1 and 1.39 putts per hole in Round 3.
Both golfers bomb the golf ball off the tee with their driver, so this is going to come down to greens in regulation, scrambling and putting. McIlroy’s been better on approach, while also drastically improving his putting in Round 3. DeChambeau is living dangerously, missing half of the greens in regulation on Saturday.
Weather will be a non-factor on Sunday afternoon in Augusta. McIlroy wants revenge against DeChambeau and his green jacket to cement himself in the pantheon of golf legends. It’s going to happen and he’ll beat DeChambeau in Round 4, even with a two-stroke lead.
Pick: Rory McIlroy (-125)
Jason Day vs. Corey Conners – 18 Hole Matchup – Round 4
Jason Day against Corey Conners is a fun way to wrap up the Masters head-to-head prop bets in Round 4. Day has won 13 PGA Tour events, including a major at the 2015 PGA Championship. His best finish at Augusta National was solo third-place in 2013, along with a T5 finish in 2019.
The Aussie will be challenged by Corey Conners. The Canadian is a world-class ball-striker, hitting 76 percent of greens across all three rounds played thus far. Day has hit 67 percent of green sin comparison, including only 50 percent on Saturday.
Conners also holds an edge in fairways hit at 81 percent, compared to Day at 69 percent. Day’s primary edge comes with his short game, particularly putting, going 1.44 putts per hole in Round 3, which was his best mark of the week thus far. Conners went 1.50 putts per hole on Saturday, also a personal best.
In this matchup, I think the edge goes to Conners. He’s much more accurate tee-to-green and has been putting on nearly the same level as Day. After going +2 from holes 3-7, the Canadian golfer settled in and proceeded to finish Round 3 with three birdies and zero bogeys. Conversely, Day went -2 on the front-nine and +1 on the back-nine on Saturday.
Give me Conners as a slight favorite to beat Day at -115 odds in Round 4.
Pick: Corey Conners (-115)
