It’s Masters week, arguably the best week of the year for fans of professional golf. The Masters is a rite of spring and the unofficial start of golf season in America.
The best players in the game will take on what many regard as the best and most gorgeous golf course in the world, Augusta National. But Augusta is a treacherous beauty that challenges players with lightning-fast greens, severe elevation changes, narrow passages between trees, and scorecard-wrecking water hazards and bunkers.
Can the No. 1 player in the world, Scottie Scheffler, win his third Green Jacket in four years? Is this finally Rory McIlroy's year? Or will a young star such as Ludvig Aberg or Collin Morikawa prevail at Augusta. And let's not forget about the LIV Tour players. Jon Rahm, Patrick Reed and Sergio Garcia are among the LIV players who have won The Masters before. Maybe it's Bryson DeChambeau's turn this year.
Welcome to the fourth annual BettingPros Guide to The Masters. We’re going to examine the many wagering opportunities this tournament presents, taking a closer look at the players contending for the coveted Green Jacket. Which players provide betting value and which are bad bets? Read on for our 2025 Masters predictions for Scottie Scheffler.
2025 Masters Odds, Picks & Predictions: Scottie Scheffler
Stats to Know
- DraftKings Odds to Win: +400
- World Ranking: 1
- Best Masters finish: 1 (2022, 2024)
- Last four Masters finishes: 18, 1, 10, 1
- Last four tournament finishes: 3, 11, 20, 2
Course History
Scottie Scheffler is the defending Masters champ and has won at Augusta in two of the last three years. He finished 19th in his 2020 debut, 18th in 2021, and 10th in 2023 in between the two wins. Horton Smith is the only other player to have won two Masters in his first five appearances.
Scottie’s career scoring average at Augusta is 70.4, and he’s only finished above par in two of his 20 competitive rounds. As the premier ballstriker in the world, Scottie is well-equipped to manage the challenges Augusta throws at him no matter the conditions.
And by the way, as the reigning champ, Scottie gets to pick the menu for the annual Masters week champions dinner. His main course is a choice of wood-fired cowboy ribeye or blackened redfish, in case you were curious.
Recent Form
After winning seven times in 2024, Scheffler has yet to hoist a trophy in 2025. It’s been a sluggish start to the season by Scottie’s impossibly high standards, but by no means is he playing poorly. Scheffler has finished top 25 in all six events he’s played, this season, with three top 10s.
Scheffler tuned up for The Masters by playing in the Houston Open two weeks ago. He tied for second and finished with a blistering 63 on Sunday — not a bad way to gather momentum for Augusta.
Betting Outlook: 2025 Masters Predictions
How heavily favored is Scheffler at Augusta? DraftKings offers a “Winner Without Scottie Scheffler” category as part of its Masters menu.
Scheffler has won 40% of his Masters starts, and at +400 to win, his true odds of winning are assessed at 25%. So, he’s a good value, right? Er, perhaps not.
The Masters has such a loaded field that Scheffler doesn’t offer much betting value at 4-1 odds. Not only does he have to outduel PGA Tour standouts such as Collin Morikawa, Ludvig Aberg, and Xander Schauffele, but Scottie also has to compete with LIV Tour heavyweights such as Jon Rahm, Brooks Koepka, and Bryson DeChambeau.
I’m not betting Scheffler to win before he tees off on Thursday, nor am I betting him for a top 5 (-110) or top 10 (-250). But I WILL be looking for opportunities to live-bet Scottie at better odds on Day 1 if he gets off to a sluggish start, or if some other player races out to an early lead and lessens the odds on the rest of the field.
