2025 The Sentry Golf Odds & Picks: Head-to-Head Matchups
The Sentry is gearing up for its opening tee times on Thursday afternoon from the scenic views at the Plantation Course at Kapalua in Maui, Hawaii. Only golfers who won an event in 2024 or finished in the top 50 of the 2024 FedExCup standings qualified for The Sentry.
Factor in the ideal scoring conditions and good weather, without a ton of hazards that challenge players, and weâre in store for another birdie-fest along the Pacific Ocean coastline. Last yearâs winner, Chris Kirk, is back and currently +10000 to win back-to-back events at the Plantation Course for the first time in 15 years. Scottie Schefflerâs hand injury has left him out of this field, making Xander Schauffele the betting favorite at +550.
In this article, Iâll be assessing players in the head-to-head betting market, looking for an edge and any value to acquire in an event that does not feature a cut-line on a friendly par 73 course running over 7,500 yards. Follow me on X at Matt_MacKay_ for more free bets and weekly analysis.

Byeong Hun An vs. Akshay Bhatia vs. Robert MacIntyre Tournament 3-Balls
Last year at the Plantation Course, Byeong Hun An turned in a solo fourth-place finish at 26-under-par. An is now joined by Akshay Bhatia and Robert MacIntyre, who each won at least one PGA Tour event in 2024. Heâll hold the edge in terms of experience and familiarity at Kapalua but donât underestimate the newcomers in this tournament 3-ball matchup.
I like Bhatia to play the best golf among these prospects in this betting market, finishing with the lowest scorecard to cash at +170 odds. Currently, Bhatia and An are both +170 to win this 72-hole 3-ball matchup. Yet I predict Bhatia will leverage his strong driver and putting prowess to pull ahead of An and MacIntyre.
Letâs bet a unit on Bhatia to figure this course out early and lean on his off-the-tee and flat stick skills to wind up beating An and MacIntyre by Sunday evening.
Pick: Akshay Bhatia (+170)
Ludvig Aberg vs. Sungjae Im vs. Patrick Cantlay Tournament 3-Balls
Ludvig Aberg, Sungjae Im, and Patrick Cantlay are all featured in a tournament 3-ball matchup. Each golfer has favorable odds to win outright at Kapalua this week, with Aberg sitting the highest at +1400, compared to +1600 for Cantlay and +1800 for Im.
Im recorded a T5 finish here a year ago at -26-under-par. The South Korean native is great on approach, while the expanded fairway width will help mitigate some of his accuracy issues off-the-tee. Aberg is a phenomenal putter and driver but without narrow fairways to give him a decisive edge, I still like Im more in this head-to-head betting market.
Cantlay had a very mediocre campaign in 2024 but he did finish T12 at The Sentry in 2024. Oddsmakers agree that heâs the underdog against Aberg and Im at +180, compared to +160 for Aberg and +175 for Im. However, I think DraftKings Sportsbook has the wrong player valued as the favorite. Letâs bet another unit on Im to showcase his talent tee-to-green on the Plantation Course, finishing with a lower score than Aberg and Cantlay. Im has gone T5-T13-T8-T5 in four straight appearances at The Sentry.
Letâs bet another unit on Im to showcase his talent tee-to-green on the Plantation Course, finishing with a lower score than Aberg and Cantlay.
Pick: Sungjae Im (+175)
