The longshot hunt continues at the next PGA Tour event, the 2025 Valero Texas Open, hosted at TPC San Antonio (Oaks Course) this week. We’ve seen a lot of longshot winners cash on the PGA Tour this season, although we have yet to hit on one through the first three months of the 2025 season.
Min Woo Lee came through as a longshot prospect during his first career win on the PGA Tour at the Texas Children’s Houston Open on Sunday. Unfortunately, we weren’t on him at Memorial Park, although it was impressive to watch the Australian golfer surge past betting favorite, Scottie Scheffler, after tying his course record at 62 in Round 2.
We’ve got to keep plugging away and firing on a couple of longshot golfers at the 2025 Valero Texas Open this week. Follow me on X at Matt_MacKay_ for more free bets and weekly PGA Tour analysis ahead of The Masters.

Patrick Rodgers (+8000)
We’ve seen some solid production from Patrick Rodgers on golf courses in 2025. Rodgers has not played well in his last two events, missing the cut at The Players Championship and logging a T52 at the Texas Children’s Houston Open last weekend.
Prior to this slump, the 32-year-old American had four consecutive top 25 finishes. This includes a T3 finish at The Genesis Invitational at Torrey Pines South.
Ranked 40th total driving, 20th scrambling, and 27th on par 4s, Rodgers has some metrics that align with the challenges of TPC San Antonio. Particularly, hitting fairways and avoiding errant lies. Or, making up for poor approach shots with soft touch around the greens.
He withdrew after a +6 in the opening round here a year ago. Prior to that implosion, Rodgers logged a solo-fifth place finish in 2023, starting 11-under-par in the first two rounds.
Let’s sprinkle a quarter unit (0.25) bet on Rodgers to earn his first career win at the 2025 Valero Texas Open, which would also qualify him for The Masters next week.
Trey Mullinax (+17000)
Trey Mullinax set an 18-hole course record at TPC San Antonio, shooting a 62 back in 2018. Mullinax has a win on the PGA Tour, which came at the 2022 Barbasol Championship.
In 2025, Mullinax has had a mixed bag of results. Two top-20 finishes intersect three missed cuts, two finishes in between T30 and T40, and a T61 at The Players Championship. His most recent outing yielded a T39 finish at the Houston Open on Sunday, going 66-66-67-74 to slide out of a third top-2o finish on Sunday.
He’s 17th in driving distance, 19th at finding greens in regulation at 70.5 percent, and 35th in bogey avoidance. It’s obviously a longshot to hit on a golfer at 170-1 odds, which is exactly why Mullinax is worth a 0.10 unit sprinkle for his second career win. This small investment returns 17 units of profit, so go ahead and place it ahead of Round 1.
