9 MLB Player Prop Bets Odds & Picks (8/3)

Check out a few recommended MLB player prop bets, odds, and picks for Wednesday, August 3.

Detroit Tigers vs. Minnesota Twins

  • Joe Ryan Over 5.5 K’s (-112)
  • Luis Arraez 2+ Total Bases (+110)
  • Jose Miranda 2+ Total Bases (-115)

If you’re looking for an afternoon game to bet on, this is the one. Joe Ryan will take the hill, coming off a disastrous start against the Padres last week.

But he’s not taking on the Padres tonight. He’s taking on a Tigers team with a .085 ISO and wOBA of .250 against righties in the last 30 days. This projected lineup has struck out 25.2% of at-bats, and Ryan has struck out 23.5% of batters faced.

Meanwhile, Tyler Alexander will take the hill for the Tigers. The lefty has a 5.97 xFIP and has only struck out 4.9% of batters faced in the last 30 days. Luis Arraez and Jose Miranda have low strikeouts numbers against lefties, high ISO numbers, and high wOBA numbers.

Arraez has a .231 ISO and wOBA of .416 against lefties, while Miranda has a .476 ISO and wOBA of .469 against lefties in the last 30 days.

Kansas City Royals vs. Chicago White Sox

  • Brady Singer Over 5.5 K’s (+100)
  • MJ Melendez 2+ Total Bases (+120)
  • Salvador Perez 2+ Total Bases (-110)

I’ve been really impressed with Brady Singer recently. He has always had his moments, but he’s getting into a groove. In the last 30 days, Singer has had a 3.12 xFIP while striking out 33.3% of batters. He’s also earning 46.4% of ground balls when balls are batted into play.

He’s been tremendous and should be able to last long enough in this game against the White Sox to reach his strikeout total of six.

On the other hand, Lance Lynn will take the ball for the White Sox. He’s a righty that has struggled a little lately, allowing a .281 ISO to his last 62 lefties faced and a .212 ISO to his last 54 righties faced.

MJ Melendez is hitting a .327 ISO with a wOBA of .426 against righties in the last 30 days, while Salvador Perez hasn’t missed a beat since returning from the Injured List, hitting a .750 ISO and wOBA of .483 against righties in his last eight plate appearances against righties.

Cincinnati Reds vs. Miami Marlins

  • Sandy Alcantara Over 7.5 K’s (+112)
  • Jesus Aguilar 2+ Total Bases (+120)
  • Miguel Rojas 1+ Hit (-260)

The Marlins will look to salvage their home series against the Reds with a win in the series’ final game. Sandy Alcantara will take the hill for Miami with a 3.31 xFIP in the last 30 days. In those 30 days, Alcantara struck out 31.3% of batters while earning a high amount of grounders in the last month of baseball and has solidified himself as the best NL pitcher in the game this season.

He’s pitching against a Reds projected lineup that has struck out 25% of the time against righties.

On the other hand, Mike Minor will get the call for the Reds. The left-hander has struggled against righties this season and will take on at least six righties in the Marlins’ lineup. The Marlins have struggled offensively. However, righties like Miguel Rojas and Jesus Aguilar have potential in today’s game.

Rojas, a righty, has struck out just 11.8% of the time against righties in the last 30 days and has a wOBA of .326 at the top of the order. Jesus Aguilar is starting to showcase some power after a double down the line in yesterday’s game. He’s hit 41.7% of line drives when balls are batted into play against lefties in the last 30 days. Aguilar has a real chance at another scorching double down the line.
