Best Super Bowl LIX Exotic Prop Bets

(Odds via FanDuel Sportsbook unless noted otherwise)

National Anthem Length

Before Super Bowl LIX kicks off, we'll be treated to the National Anthem performed by New Orleans native Jon Batiste. The over/under for the length of the National Anthem is 120.5 seconds.

Betting on the National Anthem length is one of the most popular Super Bowl props and gives us action right away before the game even gets going. Let's examine how to bet on the National Anthem length, including important trends from past Super Bowls and what to expect from Jon Batiste.

Jon Batiste has performed the National Anthem at two previous major sporting events. He sang it in a quick 90 seconds (1 minute and 30 seconds) at the 2017 NBA All-Star Game and then in 106 seconds (1 minute and 46 seconds) at the 2017 U.S. Open Tennis Championships. The jazz and R&B singer will presumably play a piano accompanying the National Anthem, as he did for the NBA All-Star Game.

For reference, here are the last 10 Super Bowl National Anthem performances and times (in minutes):

  • 2024: Reba McEntire - 1:30
  • 2023: Chris Stapleton - 2:01
  • 2022: Mickey Guyton - 1:52
  • 2021: Jazmine Sullivan - 2:17
  • 2020: Demi Lovato - 1:49
  • 2019: Gladys Knight - 2:01
  • 2018: Pink - 1:52
  • 2017: Luke Bryan - 2:04
  • 2016: Lady Gaga - 2:03
  • 2015: Idina Menzel - 2:36

The average time of these past 10 Anthems is 120.5 seconds. Coincidentally, that's the over/under for this year's version. Notably, the over has hit in four straight Super Bowls and five of the last six. Every performer is different, though, and Jon Batiste's history of singing a quick version is hard to ignore.

Pick: Under 120.5 Seconds (-110)

Halftime Show First Song

Kendrick Lamar will headline the Super Bowl halftime show with SZA slated to be a guest. The most common prop for the halftime show is the first song performed. Let's look at the shortest odds for Kendrick Lamar's first song:

  • Not Like Us +195
  • Humble +210
  • Euphoria +300
  • Squabble Up +380
  • King Kunta +430
  • DNA +500
  • A.D.H.D. +500
  • N95: +600
  • Swimming Pools (Drank) +750
  • Like That +750
  • United in Grief +750

There are a lot of ways this can go, but let's try to narrow down the field. Kendrick Lamar's famous Drake diss track, "Not Like Us," is a massive hit and almost a lock to be played at some point. However, that seems like a final song choice, or at least towards the end of the set after building up anticipation and excitement.

If you look at the first song by recent Super Bowl halftime show performers you'll notice a trend. Each of the past seven artists started their sets with "pump-up" songs intended to get the crowd excited. Plus, some of these aren't necessarily the performers' most well-known songs.

  • Usher: "Caught Up"
  • Rihanna: "B***h Better Have My Money"
  • Dr. Dre/Snoop Dogg: "Next Episode"
  • The Weeknd: "Starboy"
  • Shakira/Jennifer Lopez: "Dare (La La La)"
  • Maroon 5: "Harder to Breathe"
  • Justin Timberlake: "Filthy"

With all this in mind, "DNA" is the pick to be Kendrick Lamar's first song for Super Bowl LIX. It was one of his hits from the 2017 album "DAMN" and should be more recognizable than some of his new stuff. The upbeat and hype vibe of the song is perfect to start up the halftime set before diving into other popular songs.

For what it's worth, Kendrick Lamar's most recent full-set concert featured "Euphoria" followed by "DNA" as the first two songs played. Let's go with the latter, especially since the odds are more valuable.

 Pick: DNA (+500)

Gatorade Bath Color

The Gatorade bath is a classic Super Bowl tradition for the winning head coach. It's also one of the most popular exotic props to bet on. Let's examine the Gatorade bath color odds for the Super Bowl-winning coach.

Over the past 15 years, orange has been the most popular Gatorade color used - five times (33.3%). Orange also leads the way since 2001 but is closely followed by blue, clear and purple at four apiece in that span. It's worth noting blue was the Gatorade color for three of the past six Super Bowls.

Since the Chiefs have won the past two years, there’s some very relevant data to consider. Purple was the Gatorade color dumped on Andy Reid after both of the last two Super Bowls. When Kansas City won Super Bowl 54, orange was the color of choice, though. If you think the Chiefs three-peat, then purple would be the logical choice.

When the Eagles last won the Super Bowl in 2018, yellow/green or lemon-lime Gatorade was poured on Doug Pederson. That makes sense since Philadelphia's primary team color is green. There's slightly more value on yellow/green at +250 since the Eagles are slight underdogs to win the game.

This bet comes down to which team you think will win. If you're on Kansas City, go with purple. If you like Philly, yellow-green is the pick - which is where we're going here.

Pick: Yellow/Green (+250 at BetMGM)
