Big3 Basketball Best Bets

Here are our best bets for this week of Big3 basketball action.

Trilogy vs. 3’s Company

Michael Beasley and Mario Chalmers have been doing everything in their power to help 3’s Company get some wins, but they have had no help this season. The team has played eight players this year, and only one player other than Beasley and Chalmers has scored over 20 points (Julian Wright, 22). Meanwhile, the Trilogy have four players who have scored over 40 points this season. That dispersed scoring has helped the team win two in a row after starting the season 1-2. The only two losses on the season for Trilogy are to the Triplets and Power, who also happen to be the only two 4-1 teams in the league. The Trilogy have too much depth for 3’s Company, and they’re going to win this one running away.

Pick: Trilogy -2.5 (-115)

-Phil Wood

Triples vs. Killer 3’s

Since their Week 1 loss to Bivouac, the Triplets have been the first team to 50 in each of their games. They currently have the second-most points in the league, as they sit atop the Big3 standings heading into Week 6. Meanwhile, Killer 3’s hasn’t been so bad offensively either. For a team that is just 3-2, they have 237 points, which is the same amount as 4-1 Power and more than Trilogy, the team currently in third-place in the league. Killer 3’s are the best defensive team in the league. They have allowed just 207 points this season. That defense will allow them to keep pace with the Triplets for most of the game and push this total over.

Pick: Over 92.5 (-115)

-Phil Wood

Power vs. Enemies

The Enemies are one of the more inconsistent teams in the league. Jordan Crawford has scored 100 points, and they have gotten useful minutes from Elijach Stewart, Quincy Miller, and Isaiah Austin. Yet, they have not been able to put together meaningful performances week after week. This week, they will take on Power, one of just two 4-1 teams in the league. Other than a pitifiul Week 2 performance, Power has been a solid team all season. And yet, they have never really been dominant. Power is the better team in this matchup, but if the Enemies play to their potential, then they are going to be able to do enough to keep this within the point spread. They may even be able to sneak out a win.

Pick: Enemies +3.5 (-115)

-Phil Wood

3 Headed Monsters vs. Ghost Ballers

The 3 Headed Monsters have only won one game in the regular season. They'll have one more chance to earn another win in the regular season of the Big3 this weekend. The 3 Headed Monsters lost to the Ball Hogs. 51-42 after a fragile second half. Reggie Evans, Rashard Lewis, and Kevin Murphy have done all the scoring. But only Evans has a shooting percentage above 42% out of those three players. They'll take on the Ghost Ballers, who have gone 3-2 in the Big3. The Ghost Ballers lost to Power last weekend but have four players shooting .500 or better through five games. Mike Taylor has added 79 points and has shot over 57% from deep. I've got the Ghost Ballers in this one.

Pick: Ghost Ballers -3 (-120)

-Jason Radowitz

Ball Hogs vs. Bivouac

The Ball Hogs will look to finish the regular season strong. They added a win over the 3 Headed Monsters last weekend and are now 3-2 in the Big3. Jodie Meeks has added over 100 points in five games and shot 52% from the field while hitting 40% from three. Leandro Barbosa scored 72 points in the Big3 this season, shooting nearly 54% from the field. On the other hand, they'll take on Bivouac, who are 2-3 in the Big3. Unlike the Ball Hogs, Gerald Green, Corey Brewer, and Garlon Green have each shot 40.8% or worse from the field. There will be much more consistency out of the Ball Hogs offensively. I'll back them.

Pick: Ball Hogs -3.5 (-120)

-Jason Radowitz

Aliens vs. Tri-State

The Aliens are the lone team in the Big3 without a win. They didn't come close to a win last weekend after a 51-37 loss to the Triplets. Janis Timma has shot 41.5% from the field and is their primary scorer. But Dusan Bulut is the second-leading scorer, shooting under 30% from the field. That's not ideal for the Aliens. They'll face a Tri-State team that has Jason Richardson. Richardson has shot 49.3% from the field and has added 93 points in five games. Tri-State is 2-3 on the year but should get enough consistency from Richardson and Devin Ebanks. Take Tri-State.

Pick: Tri-State -5.5 (-120)

-Jason Radowitz
