The leaders in the North Division and South Division oppose the basement dwellers in the respective conferences. As a result, the games have lopsided spreads. So will the favorites let their guard down and play down to their inferior opponents? Or will they play like division leaders and handle their business? Let’s check out Sunday game between Breakers vs. Showboats.
USFL Betting Odds, Picks & Predictions: Breakers vs. Showboats
(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
New Orleans Breakers vs. Memphis Showboats
The Breakers are the class of the USFL and the last undefeated team through four weeks. They’re pacing the league in scoring, hanging 125 points on the scoreboard. New Orleans’s offense is a balanced nightmare for opponents. McLeod Bethel-Thompson leads the USFL in passing yards per game. Yet, Wes Hills also leads in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns.
The Showboats are ill-equipped to slow the Breakers this week. Memphis is tied for the most points allowed per game (27.3). They’ve also yielded the third-most rushing yards per game (130.8) and the most passing yards per game (338.8). So, the Breakers should have their way of moving the ball through the air or on the ground.
The Breakers’ juggernaut offense has helped them win by 7, 7, 14 and 3 points this season. The Showboats have only one win on the ledger. Furthermore, they’ve played a soft schedule and were destroyed by the Stallions in their most challenging matchup, losing 42-2.
The most significant threat to the Breakers winning convincingly is complacency. Yet, if they race out to a sizable lead, their elite rushing attack can help them salt the game away without allowing the Showboats to backdoor a cover late. So, laying the points on the favored Breakers is inviting.
Pick: New Orleans Breakers -7.0 points (-110)
