British Open 2022: Scottie Scheffler Betting Odds, Preview, & Prediction
The British Open returns to the Old Course at St. Andrews for the first time since 2015, when Zach Johnson hoisted the Claret Jug after a four-hole playoff against Louis Oosthuizen and Marc Leishman. What better place for the 150th Open Championship than the cradle of golf?
This is the final major of the year, and it's not hyperbole to say that it could be one of the most consequential majors in history. The professional golf world has been riven by the formation of the controversial new LIV Tour, which has lured some top players away from the PGA Tour with lavish appearance fees. With members of the two tours exchanging verbal barbs through the media, a major involving players from both tours has an extra layer of drama.
This could also be the final time that Tiger Woods plays in a British Open at St. Andrews. Two of his three British Open wins have come at the Old Course, in 2000 and 2005. Can Tiger contend here again at age 46?
The course itself will play a starring role, too. The Road Hole, the Swilcan Burn, Principal's Nose, the Coffin bunkers, the Hell bunker, the double greens - these iconic features will provide a marvelous stage for the world's best players. Mother Nature is sure to be a factor as well. The Old Course can be a pushover if the wind doesn't blow, but it can be a hellscape is the weather is truly Scottish, with plenty of wind and perhaps some rain.

Scottie Scheffler British Open History
Scottie Scheffler made his debut last year at the 2021 Open Championship, finishing T8 and, in many ways, kicking off the historic run heâs had in the time since. At Royal St. Georges last year, Scheffler found himself in the mix come Sunday before shooting a Sunday 71, his only day above 70.
Scottie Scheffler Recent Form
Itâs hard to imagine a better form than the 2022 version of Scottie Scheffler. Picking up the first four wins of his career, his most recent (and notable) came at the 2022 Masters, his staggering fourth win in the prior six weeks on Tour. He came one stroke away from completing half a Grand Slam last month at the U.S. Open, firing a Sunday 67 to finish the week T2.
Scottie Scheffler British Open Predictions
While Scheffler has cooled off a bit from his four-win in a six-week run, he hasnât by much. In the time since (seven tournaments), Scheffler has six top twos and two top fives as he prepares for the fourth and final major of the season. Despite lacking the links golf experience, he more than posses the high-pressure experience, and I think heâs a steal here at nearly 20 to 1.
