Cincinnati Bearcats vs. Tulane Green Wave Odds & Game Pick (2021)

The quest for perfection continues for the #2 ranked Bearcats Saturday afternoon in Tulane as they head south for an AAC matchup once again as big favorites. Unfortunately, for the 1-6 Green Wave, the role of spoiler is the only one they’ll be playing over this back half of the season.

Let’s take a closer look at where the value remains as kickoff approaches in the south.

Overview

Scoring just over 41 points per game, this Bearcats offense is humming along at an all-time rate for the program as Heisman hopeful Desmond Ridder is in complete control of this unit. Averaging 234 yards through the air, he has the added benefit of a rushing attack going for 185 yards per game itself.

However, the defensive side of the ball is what has Group of 5 fans hopeful that this Bearcats team could be the first one ever to make the CFP come to the end of the season. Allowing just 14.6 per game and ranking inside the top 10 in total yards (296.4) and passing yards (163.7), this Bearcats unit is one of the best in program history.

Things have gotten worse for the Green Wave since a narrow 35-40 loss to Oklahoma to start the season, as FCS Morgan State remains their only win of the season. The last time we saw them in action last Saturday at SMU, a 26-55 loss, their defense was again unable to stop a nose bleed allowing 40+ points 50+ points for the second time in three AAC games.

Trends

  • Bearcats 5-1 over L6 in October games
  • Green Wave 1-4 ATS in L5 meetings vs. Bearcats

Bottom Line

Ranking #128 in the nation in allowing 498 yards per game, the Green Wave could potentially be in for a blood bath against this Bearcats offense on Saturday. On top of just being the more overall talented team, the Bearcats require big wins to impress a CFP committee in December, known to have an inherent bias against Group of 5 teams.

In this one, I like for the Bearcats to put the hammer down early and not let up as the team runs away with this one.

Pick: Bearcats -24.5
