College Football Conference Championships Odds, Picks & Predictions: Clemson vs. North Carolina
Even with a loss to Notre Dame being their only blemish, the cache of the Clemson Tigers gave them a fighter's chance to sneak into the CFP heading into the last game of the season. South Carolina, however, had other plans. Losing 30-31 as 14-point favorites, the Tigers lost the yardage battle by 78 yards in large part due to a passing attack that amassed just 99 on the day. One of the least effective Clemson offenses in recent memory, they averaged just 217.5 yards through the air this season and struggled to find consistency all season.
Passing production isn't something the Tar Heels have lacked. Led by QB Drake May, UNC ranks #8 in the country in throwing for 320.9 yards through the air per game. Coming into this game, the Tar Heels have turned that production into 37.1 points per game.
With nothing more to play for, expect a deflated Clemson team to let UNC hang around late.
