Coastal Carolina University Chanticleers vs. Buffalo Bulls Odds & Game Pick (2021)

Coastal Carolina is 9-2-1 against the spread in their last twelve games. Last game, they played Kansas and won 49-22. Grayson McCall continues to look amazing. McCall is throwing for 33/40, 507 yards, and three touchdowns on the year. WR Jaivon Heiligh is looking great, with 12 receptions, 255 yards, and two touchdowns. This offense continues to look dynamic. The defense gives up some points. Overall they are a good defense.

Buffalo makes this game difficult to bet. They are 7-1 against the spread in their last eight games. The 28-3 loss last week to a bad Nebraska team certainly does not help their resume. After going 6-1 overall last year, this was a surprise to see a loss to Nebraska. They did lose RB Jaret Patterson to the Washington Football Team after the draft. Buffalo will need to have a bounce-back game to beat Coastal Carolina.

Overview

Coastal Carolina's defense had struggled against a Kansas team that has work to do offensively. There were some big plays given up, including a long touchdown run by the quarterback. This team is going to give up some points in this game. They gave up 22 to Kansas and 14 points to a Citadel team that is the worst it has been in a long time. Coastal Carolina can give up the big play, which will surrender some points to Buffalo.

Coastal Carolina's offense is explosive. They can throw the ball and run the ball. Their quarterback has only missed seven throws through two games. Coastal Carolina has scored 101 points through two games. Averaging 50 points shows that this team can put up points. Eventually, that number will come down because of the teams they are playing at the beginning of the year. The question is when will they score fewer points.

Buffalo's defense left questions after last week. They gave up 28 points to a bad Nebraska team that struggles to move the ball. The defense gave up an average of 22 points. Coastal Carolina is going to score on this Buffalo team. Expect Coastal to score more than 28 since they are better than Nebraska by a long shot.

The offense struggled to score last week. This is a team that normally scores points. Losing Jaret Peterson to the draft hurt Buffalo. They still have some good running backs in the backfield. Buffalo's offense will get better than they were this week. They are going to run the ball. With Coastal Caroline's defense this year, Buffalo will have a chance to bounce back this week on offense. This offense averaged 39 points last year.

Bottom Line

Coastal Carolina is going to score points this game. They have proven that they can score in bunches. Buffalo has a history of scoring. I think we see a bounce-back game from Buffalo on offense. With both defenses struggling, this game will be high-scoring. With these teams’ history against the spread, I want to stay away from that. After the Nebraska game, we see the over line less than it should be. Bet on points to be scored. Bet the over.

Pick: Total Over 57.5 (-110)
