    Monday's Best College Basketball Bets

(College basketball best odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)

    Memphis (+9) vs. UConn (-9) | O/U 150.5 (-108/-112

Memphis has scored 80+ points in three of its first four games. Penny Hardaway’s bunch will not be afraid to get up and down with Dan Hurley’s Huskies, as the Tigers rank 42nd in adjusted tempo.

The Tigers’ run and jump full-court pressure is bound to force turnovers, but should also lead to some run-outs and easy buckets, especially since UConn has had almost a week to prepare for it having played last Tuesday.

UConn’s rim protection is once again elite despite the loss of Donovan Clingan, as the Huskies are the country’s best two-point percentage defense (34.4% allowed inside the arc).

That should play into Memphis’s strengths offensively. Despite not shooting a ton of three-pointers thus far (310th in three-point attempts per field goal attempt), it shoots them at a 45.9% clip (third-best in the country).

We have seen the bouncy rims in Maui favor offenses over the years. I expect this early tip-off to soar over the projected total in a game that should have a frenetic pace.

    Pick: Over 150.5 Points (-110)

    Maryland Eastern Shore (+35.5) @ Arkansas (-35.5) | O/U 146 (-108/-112

Arkansas continues to be a work in progress under John Calipari, who built the Razorbacks’ roster completely from scratch when he took the job.

The Razorbacks have covered the spread in just one of their first five games thus far. I am going to continue to fade Arkansas early in the season as Calipari continues to learn his team and find lineups that produce the best success.

Calipari still does not have a fully healthy Jonas Aidoo or Trevon Brazile, and the team is outside KenPom‘s top-65 in effective field goal percentage and adjusted offensive efficiency, shooting just 32.7% from three-point range thus far.

Meanwhile, the Razorbacks are getting just 16 points per game combined from former top prospect D.J. Wagner and FAU transfer Johnell Davis thus far. Maryland Eastern Shore is facing the top-25 SEC squad at exactly the right time.

The Hawks have also played eight games thus far (three more than Arkansas). That game experience should serve them well in a tough Bud Walton Arena environment.

Pick: Maryland Eastern Shore +35.5 (-108)

    Dayton (+7.5) vs. North Carolina (-7.5) | O/U 155.5 (-110/-110

I was tempted to play North Carolina in its opening Maui Invitational game, for the sheer fact it got to Hawaii earlier than its opponent and played the Rainbow Warriors on Saturday night.

However, Dayton should not be overlooked as it was predicted to finish second in the A-10 Men’s Basketball preseason poll and has a veteran backcourt necessary to trade punches with UNC’s RJ Davis and Elliot Cadeau from UNC.

Posh Alexander is back as a preseason All-Conference selection. He and Enoch Cheeks were selected to the All-Defensive Preseason Team. Their prowess on the perimeter has led Dayton to a 31st ranking in adjusted defensive efficiency and allows them to clean up the defensive backboards well, as the Flyers allow the 13th-lowest percentage of offensive rebounds per game (21.3%).

Dayton is 3-1 against the spread (ATS) this year and 14-8-1 ATS (63.6%) as an underdog since 2021. Dayton may have the disadvantage of having traveled to Hawaii later than UNC, but it did have more time to prep for its first tournament opponent.

    Pick: Dayton +7.5 (-112)
