College Basketball Betting Odds, Picks & Predictions: Sunday (2/12)

Welcome to the Sunday college basketball slate. March Madness is right around the corner, I can almost taste it. I’ve been on a bit of a cold streak of late but that only means I’m due for a bounce back. There are some solid matchups today but remember not to force any bets you don’t love, there is still plenty of season left.

Here are my best bets for Sunday.

Last Week: 4-11-1
This Season: 68-72-6

Best College Basketball Bets for Sunday

Purdue at Northwestern

In an exciting matchup between two Big Ten teams, Northwestern looks to lock in a tourney bid with a win over the number one ranked team in the nation while Purdue hopes to stay at the top of the AP poll.

This will not be a fun game to watch, I must say. Both teams are slow-paced and Northwestern is arguably the most defensive-focused team in the country, ranking 32nd in defensive efficiency via KenPom. They excel at interior defense, ranking 16th at defensive two-point defense, with opponents scoring just 44 percent of their points from inside the arc, ranking 340th in the nation.

Where the Wildcats don’t excel at is scoring, with the 95th-ranked offense and an inability to score in the interior. Purdue limits second-chance opportunities at the seventh-best rate in the nation. There might not be 100 points in this game.

Play: Under 130.5 (-105 at FanDuel)

Michigan State at Ohio State

I usually love analytics and, with Ohio State ranking 39th in KenPom as the unluckiest team in the country, I want to back the Buckeyes here, I really do. But something is off.

Ohio State has lost 10 of their last 11 games. Four of them have either been one possession or in overtime, yes, but there are a couple of blowouts as well, and some bad losses at home. Late game situations do not bode well for the Buckeyes and I simply cannot trust them right now, ranking 363rd in the Haslametrics momentum metric – they’re playing their worst ball right now.

Michigan State will win this game from beyond the arc. They rank 26th in the nation at shooting from deep and they have the ability to have a dynamic offense against the 94th-ranked defense. I’m simply continuing to fade Ohio State for now, and feel solid about it.

Play: Michigan State +3.0 (-110 at DraftKings)

Other Plays:

Niagara +8.5 (-120 at FanDuel)
Cleveland State +3 (-110 at DraftKings)
Siena -9.5 (-110 at DraftKings)
Missouri State -8.0 (-110 at DraftKings)
